  • as someone who lived during the release of this game, there weren't many games pushing the audio limit on the nintendo like the megaman series was. the opening sequence makes the game memorable as well as stage music. the whole point of the series is based around musical rock/paper/scissors. adding more bosses was a big upgrade and finally gave us the classic grid style that continued through the classic megaman series. Sure, there are much harder games, but at the time MM2 was top tier. MM3 being my personal favorite.

I'm finding this enjoyable this far and I don't mean to sound like an a-hole, but you sound like Dr Light saying, "Doctor Wowwy!"

I love it thought. Keep it up!

Good stuff man. I grew up in the 80s. I still play this game. Its my #1 for NES.
Keep up the good work man. Nice editing, and good overall video. Keep at it.

Mega man 2 was the last MM game before it became formulaic. All the MM games after 2 essentially play the same. Arguably 3 feels unique enough but definitely after 3 it shows that Capcom got into what they wanted MM to be, so all the games after that feel the same.

Normal and Different were only in the western release. "Difficult" was the normal mode in Japan.

5:32 if you read the manual it explains that the majority of Wily's minion robots are refurbished toy robots. Its a really neat detail that I like and explains why a lot of the robots you fight are so goofy.

I've played 1-11 and I can say without a doubt that 2 is the "most fun." Its subjective but that's how i feel.

You got a sub from me. đź‘Ť

I think MM2 is a fine NES game on its own, but compared to later games in the series it’s insanely overrated. It’s missing so many staples of the franchise. No slide, no charge shot, it doesn’t even have Rush for crying out loud. Go look at screenshot of MM2 and put it up next to one from MM6, and you’ll see how “basic” MM2 is from a technical standpoint. Again, it’s a fine game, it can be your favorite, but to say it’s objectively the best is nonsense.

Speaking as a child of the 80’s whose favorite MM is this one, I think it comes down to which MM was available at your local rental shop each weekend. I played this loads and it is my go-to. MM1 was never available. I didn’t play it until thirty years on. And none of the others got nearly as much time (and, thereby, affection).

Hey man, this is a great review. You know what you're talking about and make it entertaining, it reminds me of the AVGN who you maybe got inspiration from. I agree that the Bubble Man background is crazy on the eyes, but the boss himself has a cool design. This made me want to cover a Mega Man 2 theme and maybe I'll do Bubble Man because he deserves the love. Great work man, keep it up

this is really good, cant wait to see more of these, and im not even that huge of a mega man fan

20:45 Just use airman's weapon the walkers, takes them out in 1 or 2 hits depending if you're on baby mode, or normal.
  • @TheWarmotor
Killer new channel, I'm digging your work. As a personal preference, though - I would be able to keep up better if you slowed your speech down by just 10% or so. The timber of your voice makes fast delivery harder to pick up on every word. Just an opinion, I'll be glad to continue watching if you make no changes at all.
  • @niemand7811
Mistake 1: play on easy. The game is no fun on easy mode.
Mistake 2: starting with Metal Man just because (reddit opinions).
Almost everyone plays the game the same way even years later.
  • @LethalBubbles
it is the most streamlined megaman. no fluff, basic megaman experience. 1 is kind of wonky, but 2 feels very "1.0". 3 onward all feel bigger and better and longer with multiple fortresses and extra moves. 2 is basic easy short and sweet. the kind of megaman you play when you just wanna chill.
  • @erikalvarez4516
I feel it falls under the 2D Sonic category. Yes it was wonderful when it came out and the sequels helped refine it with new mechanics, BUT it plateaued after about the 16th release
  • @TheJadeFist
The "fakeout" enemy is just because it unspawns if you walk every so slightly backwards which you probably will with him blowing the fan at you, but also wont' trigger the respawn if you don't scroll the camera back farther. So as a result usually it appears and then disappears, but it is possible to keep it on screen and kill it normally.
  • Both.

Comparing the two games - when those were the only two out? I can easily see why most people would prefer the second game.

Personally - 2 is close to the bottom of my list, and the 1st game is above it. I enjoy all the numbered titles, but I'm only playing 2 when I want a change of pace from all the others.

I think 3, 4, and 6 all have strong claims to being the best Mega Man game on the NES. I don't think any of them are bad. 2 just has things that annoy me greatly - more than the weird gravity and moving platforms in 1; more than the terrible special weapons and braindead difficulty of MM5; more than the Doc Robot boss fights in 3.
  • @acejumper1681
It's definitely the game that made the series happen. Megaman 1 didn't sell well, so this could have been the last game.
