The Yukon holds some of the World’s last large expanses of wilderness. It’s, brave wilderness - deep backcountry camping, remote wild camping in the full sense of the word as it’s well off grid and far from the road system. This is the full documentary about my survival in the woods where I’m truly alone in the wild and exploring the Yukon. After bush flying into a remote mountain lake, I head out solo camping and fishing on a wilderness travel adventure for fourteen days by canoe. On the trip, I paddle the advanced level whitewater of the Hess River and then follow the Stewart River, completing the trip some 400 kilometres later in the community of Mayo. On this adventure, I catch Arctic Grayling and Lake Trout. What’s better than catching wild Trout for a catch and cook over the fire while in the Yukon? I also find a remote traditionally-built trappers log cabin, run multiple whitewater rapids, undertake long, bushwhack portages and see a lot of wildlife.

The Yukon is a place where dreams are made and where adventurers have been going to follow their dreams since the Klondike gold rush in the 1880s. As much as anyone, I went there to follow my dreams and they became a reality

  • Thanks a lot for watching everyone! Please subscribe to my channel. I had a few requests to put this adventure out in a single, full-length documentary and that’s exactly what I’ve done here. There’s not much from the whole trip that I don’t share. Enjoy!

At 72 years old with a pacemaker imbedded in my chest, I can only wish I had followed my day dream and did what you are doing. So, for now & forever I will live vicariously through you. I choose to watch you for hours on end, as it is the best view available to me today. Thanks Jimmy!

Jim, I had been struggling with certain decisions in my life, and a few weeks ago randomly (or not) came across this video. As a result of watching your journey I was given clarity about what direction I should take in my life, which has provided a much-needed boost to me in moving forward from some difficult circumstances. I don’t know what your spiritual beliefs are, but I feel like coming across your videos was an answer to my prayers. Thank you for being who you are and taking the time and putting in the the immense effort to inspire others. It’s not so much the “adventures” that makes you special, it’s your character. Thanks Jim. Jeff

Thank you Jim for this. My husband and I canoed many of the rivers in BC fifty years ago. I could smell and hear exactly what you did when we watched. Hubby is 77, had 4 strokes, brain surgery from a bleed and while doing ok, can't do much of anything physically except exist. Your calm, even pace and tone of voice (he's pretty hard of hearing) and natural reactions to the environment took him back and he loved going on your journey with you. He is a "mountain man" so to speak and so being stripped of all that matters is not the golden years. Thanks to folks like you on you-tube, you all have enhanced his late years in ways impossible a few years ago. And yours (vids) are the best. And I must say, it is a wonderful thing for wifey to be able to get things done knowing he is content and happy. Heartfelt thank you's to you!

IT WAS THE MOST AWESOME TRIP I NEVER MADE. THANKS FOR THE RIDE JIM...ENJOYED EVERY MILE WITH YOU
  • As a handi-capped person, I can live vicariously, through you and your amigos, thanks for that!
  • Me at the beginning of this video: there's no way I'm going to sit here and watch all 4 and a half hours. 4 and a half hours later: WHY ISN'T THERE MORE?! Great video and what a radical trip.

This is hands down one of the best wilderness adventure videos of them all, epic scenery, professional camera work with excellent editing and Jim is such a compelling character, a must watch for anyone with a pulse.

I just finished watching this. Took me several days. The most impressive thing about this is the author's attitude toward all of it. Hard working, easy going, no hero complex. Very nice to see this attitude in a semi-public figure.

  • @danross116
Thanks so much Jim. I really enjoyed your journey. I needed to get out of the city (Phoenix) for a while and you gave me a great 3 or 4 day adventure. I was in the Yukon, like Dawson, Skagway, Whitehorse and Eagle with my grandparents when I was about 12; fond memories. My Grandfather spent 2 years at Fort Egbert in the Army in Eagle on the Yukon for 2 years back about 1906 and it was the highlight of his life. Now I'm in my 60's. My sister had a youthful adventure at 19 in the Yukon, Kluane area I think, with experienced First Nation guides for a summer about 40 years ago. Wonderful experience. So, I'm looking for folks like you, having adventures in these areas...wishing I could go too, but know it's too late for me but I am grateful that folks like you go out there so I can see what it's like. You did a great job filming with all your gadgets (sorry you lost your camera but glad you recovered your canoe. Yikes! A close call!). You're a fun guy, and knowledgeable, and really courageous to be out remote for so long. I enjoyed every minute of your great videos. Nice job and thank you so much. Your son will be sooooo blessed to get to go camping and adventuring someday with you. Blessings, Dan
  • Cannot express how impressed I am right now. Whatever you did on this trip was awesome! I love Yukon. But you made it much more lovely for me by sharing this adventure. We love you Jim. We wish you all the best in the trips to come. From BC, Vancouver

I am only up to the point where he has to portage the canoe for a few miles cross country and I have decided this is the manliest man I have ever seen in my life. I am enjoying this video and it is inspiring so far! Makes we want to get out and do some adventuring.

Jim, I watched and enjoyed the entire documentary... while your wilderness skills and physical prowess were admirable, your outlook coupled with your attitude, set the true bearing for your adventure... you were humbled by the expansive challenges... and your accomplishments spawned authentic gratitude... thanks for taking me along... you are a man after my own heart... Peace.
