Is your air conditioner blowing warm or hot air instead of cold air? In this video I show you two very easy home air conditioning fixes. The first is when the condensation drain clogs and triggers the shutoff to turn off the outside unit. The second is when a brief power outage or surge causes your outside unit to run in reverse - heating the house instead of cooling.
Remember you need to change your air filter about monthly depending on usage and use the filter recommended for your system.
Hopefully this DIY video will save you several hundred dollars and keep your home cool and comfortable.

0:00 it's hot outside
0:50 air conditioner inside unit
1:20 water cutoff switch
2:03 condensation drain
3:03 Ewww! Gunk buildup
3:27 adding bleach to clean drain
3:58 don't forget to replace the cap!
4:13 triggered cutoff switch fix
5:13 power failure fix (unit running in reverse)

  • Single mom found drainage pipe that came off. Washed it good and the other end, took paper towel and remove as much as I could. Replaced drainage pipe and prayed. The ac is blowing cold air, stronger than before.

My ac unit has so much ice. The filter is indeed dirty but It says on the packaging that it lasts 3 months. I just put the filter In not even a month ago. But I just wanted to share that your video along with others has help me diagnose and fix the problem. So thank you!! 😊 😃

Aww man, I have two units. One in the basement, and another way up on the third floor. Ain't nobody got time for that. I'm gonna need a big calorie meal before making that trek up all those stairs.

My wife took a vacuum to clear out the gunk now the unit doesn’t turn on is there a fix ?
  • My apartment maintenance always turns the a/c unit off and forgets to turn it back on and I live in Texas. They’re off weekends and it’s annoying to wait days to ask them to fix it and I’m trying to figure out how I can just walk out there and flip a switch or something without asking maintenance.

I think that might be the problem with my AC not working. The pan under the Air Handler is full of water and I think the float switch was triggered
