Literally last year my teacher used this video for a science project, and she shared it with the whole class. We also ended up seeing how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop. Thank you for sparing me of my boredom!

I'm JUST now like seriously noticing that Dan/Researcher #3 DID do it in well under 270 links but Matpat still says he didn't and roasts him for his failure anyway. I think every time I've seen this before, I was thinking the target was 170 for some reason.

I actually tried it myself when I was a kid. it took me 367 licks, but my idea of "getting to" the center was being able to crack the candy shell.

Fun fact my uncle actually figured this out! He licked until he got to the core and mailed his answer to the Tootsie Pop people. They gave him a certificate :)

Just curious how she was able to do it in only 98 licks. Did I miss something as she beat MatPat and he didn't say much about her doing so, but instead celebrated himself doing it in 117.

As a chemistry nerd, I have to point out that lowering the pH decreased the solubility of the acids present in the candy (such as citric acid).
