What did you think of the Super Mario Bros. Movie š¤
-
I love the end credit scene when sonic comes out of a portal and tells Mario āwe need to smash, bro.ā My entire movie theatre went insane
-
"critics hate it while audience loves it" is honestly a recurring pattern in a lot of cases
-
everyoneās pointing out that charles had the cameo as āJump Manā but nobodyās addressing his stellar performance as Marioās Dad
-
This is really a movie just for Mario fans, that's about it
-
For a movie based on Mario, it was definitely great. Good thing Nintendo stood over Illuminations shoulder.
-
Hearing character yell things like āIM GONNA KILL MARIOā was a highlight of this movie for me
-
I feel like if there was an extra 20 minutes, everything could be fleshed out more and maybe give Luigi something to do
-
I couldnāt help but feel the movie had a huge sense of love and celebration for the Mario games and cartoons.. and because of that I walked out really happy with this movie. It was just so charming.
-
Jock Donkey Kong was an insanely fun character. Not only did they play THE song, but "Yeah, but your dad was right!" was the funniest line in the movie 7/10 movie, 10/10 experience
-
Jack Blackās performance as Bowser is so good. He killed it with his line delivery and was my favorite character in the movie.
-
Just figured Iād say since you didnāt seem to notice: Martinet not only briefly voiced that one dude in the pizza shop (designed as OG Mario), but he also voiced Mario and Luigiās father. Just thought Iād say
-
Mario not really having a crush on peach is a brilliant breath of fresh air from the āhero wants the main girlā trope
-
Definitely felt a big budget version of the super show, especially with the use of license music in the film, and in that aspect it was pretty enjoyable for me .
-
As a massive Mario fan, this movie was everything Iāve ever couldāve wanted, Iād probably give it an 8/10 for an actual score but to me personally itās an easy 10/10
-
Weirdly, this video was pretty helpful in summarising my thoughts on the movie. I liked it overall, but came out having a problem with it I couldnāt really figure out. Then this video came out and reminded me, āOh yeah, itās the character development and pacingā. Aside from that it was a fun movie

honestly, it wasnāt a great MOVIE, but as a mario fan? it was an absolute dream. when the DK rap started playing, i was bouncing in my seat and singing along like a little kid. i wish there was more exposition for the world, dialogue between the characters, and, most of all, closure for peachās story and why thereās a pipe in brooklyn in the first place. i also wouldāve loved to see some of peach and boswerās background growing up together, maybe even the reason why bowser is the way he is. and that would mean more screen time for kamek, too! i also would have loved to see wario and waluigi included in the family dinner scene.
-
I loved the movie and hearing the Donkey Kong Rap from N64 in a cinema was truly a life-changing experience for any audience member.

I also agree that the movie was just okay , but did anyone else think the ending was a little weird and rushed? The people of Brooklyn seemed totally fine with their city being destroyed and another universe existing. They also don't show how Mario and Luigi return and live in the Mushroom Kingdom even though the warp pipe they used to get there in the first place was destroyed.

Despite the story not being the best, this is one of the most fun movies I've seen, which I feel like is similar to the games.
