Writer and poet from Chicago. As a Literary Teaching artist, she taught grades K-12, Won the Gwendolyn Brooks Poetry Award for her work with poetry programming in 2004. She has published ten volumes of poetry, been featured in multiple anthologies. Her book, Musings of a Mocha Sista: A Different Flava of Mocha was published in 2001. She has performed at poetry venues in Chicago and New York. Most notably, the Nuyorican Poetry Cafe. She is also a vocalist with strong vocals, having performed in the Roosevelt University Gospel Choir, Columbia College Choir and Voices of Faith (Grambling State University). She has a M.A in Disability Studies and a Bachelor Degree in English. On this channel she will invite you into her literary and pop culture world.
