For me he is the best rock guitarist ever. He is one of the most influential rock guitarist, yet apart from his fan base he doesn't seem to get credit for that. A beautiful blend of technical proficiency and style.

Ritchie has had one hell of a life with many stories I enjoy hearing and this is why Ritchie is Ritchie you cant tame this beast of a person who went on to jam with some of the musical best musicians world class to say and still become a legend thru all of this excellent life he went on to live truly inspirational.
  • Ritchie, to me, is way more than an idol. When I was starting to get serious about learning, I could almost grab a few of Clapton's licks (like from Crossroads), maybe a few of the repeating riffs from Jimmy Page...but man, when "In Rock" came out? Forget it. The speed, the non-standard melody lines, that super-compressed, mid-range-y tone, the classical influences...Ritchie was so far over my head! I just listened in awe.

I have this Blu-Ray. Some great stories on it and well worth getting for any serious music fan. Yes, Blackmore is a great guitarist and songwriter, but as this clip shows he's a great storyteller as well.

Everyday for the past few months, taking a few hours out of my day, I’ve spent watching ritchie blackmore talk/play. Been following deep purple’s mesmerizing playing ever since I was a kid. Now 18, and I couldn’t look more forward to playing more of their music with my band.
