Meet Cameron - What Every Parent Should Know About Toe Walking

Published 2019-08-05
Toe walking is common in children 3 years old and younger. However, for children 5 years old and older, walking on tiptoes is not normal and could be associated with a neurological immaturity or medical condition.

Cameron began walking on his tippy toes starting at about two years old. Cameron's mom took him to different pediatricians trying to figure out if Cameron's toe walking was a symptom of something more serious, and if so, what can they do about it?

She remembers one pediatrician commenting that if Cameron didn't grow out of it they may have to perform surgery on his Achilles ankle.

After following numerous foot physical therapies and exercises with no apparent improvement, she decided to research further. She didn't like the surgery option, but it wasn't getting better and she knew she needed to find a solution

She researched online and came across Pediatric Foot & Ankle. Specifically, their website page on TOE WALKING (PEDIATRIC EQUINUS).

Cameron's mom knew right away she was closer to an answer:

She called Dr. Jarman right away, and this video is the rest of their story.
