Thank God she was smart enough to get an RV. No hotel bills, no shelters.
  • Middle class families suffer the most.. they make “too much” to qualify for any help but don’t make enough to really survive.
  • @Incrediblewash
I love how positive her kids are you're doing a good job mama!!
  • @CulinaryGuide
She's right! People are judgemental. Their judgement keeps them isolated, in shame, and in silence.

He says they wouldn’t be able to afford “luxuries” like WiFi if they rented. Let’s be real, they wouldn’t be able to afford food let alone WiFi.

Why is the cost going up while incomes haven't?
  • @Desertvanlife
Don't be fooled it's every where .....I'm in Phoenix Been in my van for 7 years

Her daughters seems so mature, i guess it's because they have been going through much for their age. I hope they will make it to live in a better home ❤️
  • Having lived in a car at the age of 14 with my parents family of four circa 1995, I have NEVER heard reputable people say that they think of people on drugs etc as the only people who are homeless. My heart goes out to this single mom and I think she's doing an awesome work raising her two girls. I have met lots of working class people in this situation and not just recently. I feel like this was misinformed journalism at best.

I certainly hope that Jacob Siboroff and the crew from NBC was kind enough to have made a monetary donation of some sort to help out this precious family. I hate to see people make money off other people's misery.
  • It doesn't take much to be homeless these days, one wrong slip of misfortune almost anyone can be out on the streets these days unless they have very deep pockets and their own social support system, that is willing to help them if they fall on hard times. The USA does a terrible job of helping people who have fallen through the cracks of society. It also helps to keep people who are poor in the system by not giving them enough of a hand up to truly be able to remedy poverty and help themselves. Sadly, the deeper you fall, the further any salvation of a "normal life" again. Compounded by lack of empathy for those that are in need in this nation. A mentality of division, Us vs Them, until one actually hits rock bottom into poverty and near homelessness. Homelessness is and will continue to be a HUGE issue with income disparity/inequality and the rising cost of living! Many decent people are being "priced out" of privileged housing areas due to greed and the simple inability to sustain working 2-4 jobs in place of the 1 well-paid job that an affluent person has. The corrupt system, of everyone out for themselves, is doing a fine job of eroding humanity as well as affordable housing for ALL. The economy is supposedly so great, yet where are ALL the jobs that pay well enough for a person to live off one job, there's increased homelessness in many cities all around the nation in some cases these are people with degrees, not drug addicts, or criminals.
  • I lived in Los Angeles for 30 years and struggled financially for many years. Not until I moved to another state was I able to recover. And,I even have a great job, going to college, drive my own car. And can afford so many things now. There are jobs galore here in beautiful Ohio.

What happened to the tiny houses that were supposed to be built to help combat this pandemic
  • @freewaylee
RV living means being free vs being a slave. Having lived in an RV for over 8 years, in a park, I truly have no desire going back to my big house and big mortgage payments. Saving to buy land in the Sierra Foothills to homestead.

I've got news for ya, living in an RV is not homeless. I've been homeless, many times in my 56 years. Thankfully, I'm not now. I've been living in my twenty five foot fifth wheel trailer for the past three years. Comparatively, it's been awesome. It's actually called "tiny house living" and though it's tight, it's very far from being homeless.

California has always been too expensive to live in. We were there in 1965 and the prices to rent or buy a home were outrageous. The women we rented a very small house from, about 600 square ft wanted us to buy her home for $65000.00. When we then moved to Michigan we purchased a hme for $20,000. That was 1500 square ft. The groceries in California were also expensive back then. There was also a luxury tax you had to pay for other things. I don't understand why that state is so out of control. I recently bought a home here in Texas 3000 square ft for 165,000.00 and this is 50 years later with a half care of land. and There Is No State Income Tax Here.
