The tent city of Pinellas Hope, Fla is home to many who never thought they would find themselves homeless, but had nowhere else to go after being unable to find work as the economy crumbled.

I was homeless with a child and I wasn't mentally ill and I'm damn sure NOT a drug addict. Hard times befall all of us and be very careful how you treat people because you will NEVER know when you'll be in that same situation. Peace and many blessings upon us all
  • My heart goes out to anyone who is homeless. Don't judge a person until you have walked in their shoes. A good friend once told me, "Donna, we are all just one paycheck away from being homeless."
  • It could happen to anyone, Don't get too high on your success. You could loose everything at anytime.

May all the homeless be blessed with a home and a job soon.amen...
  • God forbids that man who's down talking the homeless wont ever have to live there. Anyone can loose their job, home, family in a second. prayers to all of them.

This is America. You're good-to-go if you have a job and money. The minute those disappear, you become a nobody - and people shun you. I found out the hard way - going from a job and nice home until the business I worked for was taken over by a corporate raider - whom promptly fired all 1,500 employees made off with $20 million. In Anchorage, Alaska no less and in the dead of winter. Lived out my car with a child, got harassed by the police and yet never did drugs or drank. It didn't matter. Finally I find a minimum-wage job that got my child and I into an apartment. It was very hard and I'll NEVER forget those who mistreated us while we were down and out. Including the police. Really - America needs to stop spending trillions on war and in countries we have NO business being in and start taking care of our own. Or else - game over man. It's game over for Americans - except the 1% of course.

I am homeless and I wish there was something like this in my country. You try to move on but being homeless there are so many challenges. You can't get a job and all you can worry about is food and safety. Strength to all these people.

My neighbor explained to me that an architectural firm she worked at for 25 years changed her hours to part-time and six months later let her go. She said she wasn't eligible for unemployment benefits, didn't receive her pension (although the IRS thought she did and contacted her about it), and was forced to apply for her Social Security benefits early which meant she got hundreds of dollars less a month. People should not be quick to judge a person who is homeless. It can happen to anyone. You can lose your job, your income, your benefits, then your home, your car . . . it is a national crisis that has been going on for decades. Have you ever wondered why homelessness - even with all of the efforts to help - just keeps getting worse? Not better?

My husband and I found ourselves homeless at ages 60 and 50. He lost his job at age 59 in 2008 during the recession and was out of work until 2015. He was making a six figure income the last job he had but he was applying for $10 hour retail jobs, doing handyman work or anything just to bring money in. Our home of 23 years went into foreclosure and we finally left that property in 2012. Luckily my sis stepped in at the last minute and let us couch surf at her place. My husband was now another homeless Vietnam veteran. Nobody thinks this will happen to them (I didn't) but when it does it happens so fast it's mind boggling. If it hasn't happened to you-you just can't know.
  • Homeless people are not Necessarily drug addicts etc. They are exactly what it says homeless.

I knew a family who lived in a tent in the summer, not because they had to but because they wanted too. She was an executive at a bank and he delivered and filled propane tanks. They were not drug addicts or drunks. They just liked roughing it. They both had a philosophy of "If you wait until all your domino's are lined up in a row, you may never move forward"

WOW!!! I'm looking at this video from a completely different position. I see this homeless camp as the ( NICEST / CLEANEST / ORGANIZED CAMP ) E-V-E-R !!!! They have proven that being POOR doesn't equal being FILTHY PIGS. Ever video that speaks to the homeless crisis, always show the destruction of property. These RESPONSIBLE people need to commended and applauded for struggling through a difficult period of their life. I don't have the answer to the $64 question. ( How do we fix this?) but I now have more faith in my fellow man. God Bless them ALL.

most of them are not bums there just ppl without homes
  • @PhoenixRayne88
That couple is just so ignorant. Mental illness doesn't always mean dangerous. Some people get arrested for stupid things and they are condemned for it. A lot of the homeless population is vets and single parents. You don't want them in the community, you don't want to help them...
  • Yeah!!! Don’t interupt on my lavish life style!!! God Forbid THAT!!! What if it was YOUR Fucken Child homeless.!! They, don’t know what the homeless are going through!! People these days are ALL for themselves!!! Me! Me! Me!!!
  • @goyod6
this is always in the back of my head
  • Whats wrong with that guy. These men and women are not drug addicts. They just lost their job.
  • That grandfather was ignorant. Like he looks down on ppl that lost thier homes. He better hope it doesnt happen to him.
