LOL, I'll save you some time, it does not cut clear acrylic. But here is the amazon link to the one I tried. It's nice acrylic in case you want to use it for something else! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PW97MD3/ref=as_li_tl?…

Dang, I was about to try just this and decided to see if anybody's done it yet. Thanks for sharing your results.

OMG Rebecca WOW That is Amazing....GREAT job!! TFS this was fun!! YOU so ROCK! Joan Smith
  • I was sad to know that it is not possible to cut transparent acrylic, I would buy a $700 laser cutting machine today, but now that I know I can't work with transparent acrylic I'm going to give up the purchase. Thanks for making the video and helping me not spend money😔

I think trying a few different speed increased tests would help. I think you are moving slow enough that the cutting is fusing back together faster than it but clear is a difficult type to cut. Acrylic is in general a sensitive material for diode lasers. I know the 10w xtool D1 can cut opaque acrylic and possibly the darker transparent ones up to 3mm possibly 5mm thick in a few passes but I believe the speed settings are higher than yours. Most 2.5 - 5w output diodes are not great for cutting most materials

would it have better results if u used on one those honeycomb laser cutter beds?

Hi Rebecca Which colours so far you managed to cut properly
  • @lumanation2032
I have cut thru 1/4 opaque acrylic in 2 passes I have not tried clear
  • Oh no :( do you know if it works with mirror acrylic? (Not sure if u use the same word for it in english like we do in German)

Hello Rebecca, it was important for you to do the test, just so, it is known that the laser does not cut transparent materials but, would acrylic smoke would be the same thing? Is it possible for you to take the test? Thank you

nice try :( id like to see how it works on different colored acrylic!

Folks, do not do this unless you are ventilating the space. Build a ventilated box that exhausts fumes outside. Unless you want to grow a tail.
  • Try experiment with in foil + wet paper towel + plastic view link -.=>

You don’t know me. But I’d like to ask for a favor. Go to the dollar tree and pick up a sheet of their foam. ($1) See if you can cut that. It would really help us model airplane guys. 🤓
