Modesto woman renovating home loses insurance over drone-captured images of clutter, unsanitary cond

A San Joaquin County woman said her home insurance company of nearly 40 years abruptly canceled her coverage over what it spotted from a drone's view high above her property.

    There needs to be a law that if an insurance company drops you it has to give you a hearing and 90 day warning… if they are able to drop you, you should get your premiums back.

    Spying and making an assessment without further investigation is a fat lawsuit waiting to happen. Hope she sues their butts off.

    It matters a lot if images are from Google Earth or a low flying drone (both should be illegal for spying on homeowners' property). Homeowners own from 50-500 ft. above their property in air space. Insurance drones inside that space is trespassing. It's definitely something to look into since homeownership is not only your responsibility. It comes with rights, too.

    Insurance companies want their money on time but will do anything not to pay out! I don’t know who I hate more tow trucks drivers or insurance companies!
