I can understand that point about anxiety and seeking horror experiences. Anxiety sometimes comes from being unable to control things in life. But choosing to immerse yourself in something horrible, and having the control to stop it whenever you want, can make you feel better about the whole thing. It makes sense.

Really cool video, your content is so professional.. It's breath-taking! Love the edit it's cool and calm at the same time, this video feels like it's could be a podcast and a reporting at the same time!

Just found this video while quickly scrolling through Reddit! The title intrigued me and I decided to take a look because I actually experienced consistent mild anxiety for most of the game. Somehow it's different from the feeling I get from horror games, which I actually enjoy. My chest felt heavy and it felt like I was constantly holding my breath. What's really odd is the only time I was stuck was at the first boss. I spent HOURS trying to beat it, but was able to breeze through the rest of the game. I'd get a sense of relief after beating a boss and thereby clearing an area, but that would only last for a couple seconds. I never felt truly relieved until I beat the game and uninstalled it. I always see people online talk about how much they love Bloodborne and it really makes me wish I felt the same way. Maybe I'll do a second playthrough/the DLC in the future and hopefully have a better experience with it. In any case, this was a great video! Checking out videos from r/VideoGameAnalysis can be hit-or-miss at times, so I was pleasantly surprised with the level of quality. Easily earned a sub from me, and I look forward to seeing more content like this in the future!

So I found your channel a few weeks ago on my other other account and I'm very impressed by the quality of your videos and your analysis, surprised you dont have much more subscribers. My personal journey with Bloodborne begins a couple of years before I actually played it. I played Dark Souls 1 & 2 because I was told they were some of the most challenging games out there. I beat both of them but had no interest in uncovering all the hidden objectives or optional areas. When I played Bloodborne it took time, but I was eventually so drawn into the world & mechanics. At the time I was going through a bad episode of depression caused by my retail job and like many other people have said it helped me through those times. It was one of the first games that drove me to wanting to complete every challenge it had to offer and ended up bring my first Platinum Trophy. Definitely hours well spent. Also I didn't know I wanted a Pokemon crossover till you showed it 😂
  • My initial reaction to the thumbnail, ugh blood borne, lovecraftian themes make me anxious (and slightly squeamish.) Oh playing blood borne helps anxiety… I don’t know. (Sees Snorey time is one who uploaded this) Oh heck yeah, this video will be great, no anxiety worry needed.

I just found your channel, and I gotta say your work is great! I ultimately came to the same conclusion as you; stay calm. Welcome home, good hunter.

Great job! you clearly put a lot of work into this vid, love the editing, music, interviews, and the point you're making is well argued. Nice one :)
  • Oh wow, I love how you actually interviewed people for this video so you could dive into the psychological aspects, and for a 12 minute video at that. Fantastic job! Bloodborne is definitely my favorite game. I've played it so many times, staggering enemies and bosses has become second nature to me and it's so satisfying! God bless.
  • As someone who's parents hate games and my little brother who still lives there (24) plays a lot of games and has anger issues, my parents were soon to judge. I love games and really love your video on bloodborne, will share it with them in the hope it will help them understand, for just a bit
  • @Landevin
Loved the video, playing Bloodborne's defiled dungeons and taking losses calmly has helped me enjoy the game more than just raging because an attack felt "unfair"
  • I liked your approach to gaming as it relates to mental health. Jon Cartwright from Nintendo Life once said Bloodborne is a "Cozy" game and now I know why!

The only time I got anxiety during bloodborne was fighting Orphan of Kos
