I visited the Holocaust museum in Washington DC the first week it opened. If you think you can’t hear silence , you can. The silence was tangible in the museum as I stared at each glass case that represents history. It was such a silence walking through the museum that it evolved to be my greatest and most compelling tutor. It was when I arrived to the enclosed glass cases filled with brown and black shoes piled on top of each other , I felt paralyzed with sorrow and grief. I understood just then that we all needed to bare witness in one way or another to the memory of the Holocaust in order to recover and to truly understand the words “ Never again.” Shalom 🙏🏼 ☮️

"Let our fate be a warning to you" is chilling. Makes my blood run cold as it is entirely possible, or probable that it happens again. I'm afraid the further away we get from it the easier it would be to happen again.

“May our fate be a warning to you.” May we be smart enough to heed that advice.

I simply cannot see concentration camps without getting deeply sick and nervous. And I have visited the “easiest” one, Terezin, where the Czech elite was arrested after the occupation (artists, writers, bankers, journalists, politicians, lawyers… women, children…). The dark and long corridors are claustrophobic. We shall never forget the Holocaust.

No one can erase history no matter how hard they try.
  • I feel so sad for all the kids and people that died! 😭😭😭

I wouldn't be able to handle seeing a place like these...Just the thought of how much evil and suffering went on there, it would crush me to pieces.

I couldn't imagine having to burn corpses or doing hard labour while starving knowing my time could be up any minute. How terrifying for them

The one thing I really appreciate about Germany is unlike Japan, UK or even the US it doesn't hide from its horrible past. They are even taught the horrors of Nazi crimes from a very young age. It takes strength to actually acknowledge and make amends with the victims of such a brutal past even if it wasn't done by you but rather your ancestors. Yes the Nazis were horrible people but today's Germany is far from them.
  • We pray to God that it never does! My grandfather’s both fought in that war as did my father-in-law! Never again! I made sure my children know and understand what the Holocaust was about and the atrocities that occurred. As the schools don’t teach much about it anymore!
  • Out of all of the things I've learned in history the Holocaust is definitely the most horrible one, I cried in front of everyone when I learned and I still cry...It has scarred me for life but not more than the poor victims, some of which had no idea what was going to happen to them and the victims families...I am so sorry people had to go through that...My sorrows and prayers are with you🙏

They way that this inhumanity happened is so unbelievably sad. The Holocaust & Slavery are two parts of history that give me horrible chills because I don’t understand treating humans like worse than garbage. Whippings, getting sold, getting shot, bullied & emotional fear, forced separation from your family, removal from your home, Gas chambers, forced labor, disease, just awful overall treatment.😢 Horrible things.

That was overpowering. And I don't mean the Nazis. The man who spoke with you guys was a pure professional. Absolutely a stunning piece
  • Phil Lipof has become my favorite ABC News reporter. His broadcasting is full of empathy and this video is no exception from the said. He is going well in the footsteps of the late Peter Jennings. And last but not least, this video is so chilling to see. Lest we forget what happened in the past. The craziest is , that we are going through a war in Europe again these days. Every war leaves behind many dead, lives destroyed, families torn. In the past, and nowadays.....
  • Honestly, I have read historical accounts in college about these concentration camps, but I didn’t know they were located in Poland ...as well. It’s a journey in this video of the chilling effects used against these victims of ww2. For peace of mind, it’s not easy to merely see this presentation. May peace come soon to Eastern Europe in this war... and then to battered Ukraine. May Russian aggressors met their destinies with charges of war crimes... as well. If ..the war ends and the people are freed in Ukraine’s bombed out regions, then what? . Horrifying video otherwise. Thank you for this reporting job as well! 💜☮️⭐️
