My Chinese friend got accepted to Ga. Tech but couldn't understand what the letter said. He said it started with "greetings" and figured that that was good. I told him that when I got drafted into the military during the Vietnam war that the letter started with "greetings" from the president.
  • bro really risked his entire future for a yt video 💀gotta admire the dedication lmfaoo
  • @elinawang168
his grades were perfect, and was also an athlete! It does not matter how many schools rejected him, he will shine in the future I MEAN 1550 SAT!!!

If you’re a senior reading this: the reason you shouldn’t tie your self esteem to college admissions isn’t for your mental health, IT’S BECAUSE IT DOESNT MEAN SHIT. As an intl student, I was accepted everywhere I couldn’t ask for finaid (including UC Berkeley), and rejected at every other school, including some ranked much worse. Some things are unfair, or random: it sucks but no matter where you go, I trust you’ll make the most of it and prove these colleges wrong.

I’m surprised those schools rejected you. I think you’ll do really well in college.

Honestly I respect you sharing this. I actually filmed a college reaction video but decided to delete all the footage after my results. Got into 6/19 schools (mostly safeties and targets), waitlisted from 2, rejected from the other 11. I obviously reached, but it's not like I was unqualified for any of the schools I applied to. In the end tho, it doesn't matter! Hope you enjoy NYU, I have a friend going there! Lets put this admissions stuff behind us and just look towards the future!

A college reaction that's not years old???? YEAHHH
  • @cankill4209
DAMN, the WORST part of applying for college is seeing the results and see if you got accepted or not.

i did the exact same thing you did on ivy day - just kept on going to the next college decision😂😂 your stats are pretty cracked too and i got zero clue what these colleges want 😭😭 all the best at NYU Tandon😁

HI Stanley. Don't be bummed out. Another Chinese friend of mine applied to GA Tech for Computer Science and got rejected due to too many applicants. I suggested that he change his major to Computer Engineering and got accepted. Once in the door I told him to change his major to Computer Science. Once he had his "foot in the door" he changed the major to Computer Science. He tricked them. So don't give up. You are probably smarter than them anyway.
  • @coolbanga4341
Yoo congrats on the acceptances! UIUC’s acceptance rate overall was 45% last year and for engineering it was like 23%. So don’t be too bummed you got a lot of good schools to choose from:)

Hard Truth: Majority of College decisions are based on how much space the college has for the specific major u want to take, regardless of the applicant’s achievements and abilities.
  • i was so worried about this in high school. im in my masters program now and it literally doesnt mean anything where you end up. everyone can end up at the same place. you got this!
  • Watching this was an emotional rollercoaster. Good luck with college!

This bro did everything on hard mode. Mad respect tho cuz he not ONLY got into some amazing schools, but he had the cajones to post his Ls and not take himself too serious. Still, Easy Mode would have been to select the least impacted STEM majors and then change your major your freshman year. This strategy helped me get into 3/5 UCs I applied and my stats were no where near impressive as his. For context, I applied under Applied Mathematics and then switched to Financial Mathematics. I believe the same thing can be done for Comp Sci, just go under Informatics or Information Systems. These majors are usually under the same school (e.g., of Engineering or Letters & Science). For some schools if it’s under the same department, you may even be able to keep the same advisor. The problem with public universities these days is that they require you to know the ins and outs. Even in university, you’ll have to be strategic about courses and time management to get the best GPA. I found myself not risking my GPA for more interesting/relevant classes in the fear of getting a B+. I wish the system would allow for some more intellectual curiosity and make courses hard—but not so that you have to weed through them to get to the finish line.
  • Thank you for sharing this, the highs and the lows. A little late for me to really embrace the message at the end to shoot your shot but while I will be going to a school I consider a safety I take some solace in knowing it is the right place for me as long as I make it so. Thank you for the moment of reflection and the opportunity to glance into another's life. You'll definitely go far, and of course congratulations.
  • @ashanator4
You’ll do amazing at NYU. Keep up the energy and hard work!

awesome video man! loved how you opened the decision letters without any hesitance. congrats on all those impressive acceptances!

i applied to 7 (2 reach, 2 challenge, and 3 safety) schools and almost lost my mind through the application process and waiting for the letters. I have MAD respect for you on getting through all of the apps and decisions and taking everything in stride. Be proud of yourself and work hard no matter where you end up. Don't think of your next steps and time to prove schools wrong, think of it as proving the schools right for accepting you. Best of luck brother youll do great!
