If you're looking into something for art for this level, "A Child's History of Art" by Hillyer would work... we are weaving the first part of the whole art series (painting, sculpture, architecture) into our ancient world studies. The language is easy enough that it would work for a broad age range. I found a schedule online of the chapters that coordinate with all the history years from year 1 through year 10, so we'll likely be going through it all twice. The lesson book has art lessons that go with the chapters and every reader comes with an art card book too.

Emily! This is so fantastic. How amazing are your kids?!!! By the way you should tell your daughter to include some Irish Myths - they are great!! :-)
-
"The boy who drew birds" is a lovely book on John Audubon - lots of lovely artwork

Oh man, I wish I had seen this video back when you posted it! I guess I was busy having a baby that day, LOL. I already ordered books for the first semester. Doh!

Congrats to Sarah for becoming a Published Author!!! I might buy her book if I can get it online. Is there an e-book version available yet?

We're LOVING Level 0 so much, I'm already looking into what we'll need to order for Level 1! I'm interested in searching for the old ancient art book if I can possibly find it to use in addition to the amazingly cute The Art Book For Children. What was the art book called that has since been replaced? It sounds pretty interesting. : )

I know this an old video but I'm looking at using Level 1 this upcoming year. You have Nature Connection as a required text.... we live in the desert (Baja California Sur) and I'm just wondering if the science portion of this curriculum would be a good match for our environment or if it's more tailored for the Pacific Northwest? Thank you

I wish you would update your Shark unit. Recently bought it and could only find one of the spine books. The rest were not in the library or available to buy anywhere. Was disappointed as I buy the units as we love your book choices but I had to substitute basically all of them ☹️

My daughter just turned 7... should I start her on level 0 or level 1?

Emily, these books are gorgeous! So excited for Level 1, and we've really just began Level 0. ;) (BTW, we read "On the Same Day in March" today -- what an incredible book!). Question, though: one of the reasons that I chose BYL over Bookshark for Level 1 was because of the art books. I really loved that these tied into the geography/history/lit component. So far I've purchased one of the three for a good price and have found the other two as well. Just waiting to make a payment. Anyway, I planned on purchasing Level 1 during your next sale (rumor has it that it's in April?). Would it be possible to get the older version of Level 1 as well as the updated version so I could perhaps do all of the art books?

Is your level one able to be used for 3rd and 5th grader?
