Jeff Galloway's run walk run method is an awesome way to enjoy running for both beginner and experienced runners. Having used it for several years, I've develop some guidelines and tips on the run walk ratio. It's made running half and full marathon races possible for me, and it also can for you.

    I bought his book Marathon many years ago and used it to train for the Big Sur marathon in California. I had never run a race before! Anyway I finished in 5 hours and 45 minutes and got to meet Jeff Galloway there too!
  • Love the channel. I'm 52. Did a 20 mile long run yesterday using run walk run. Feet are a little sore, but I'm otherwise ok. Jeff Galloway is awesome.
  • I have been running for a year, aged 46 now. Run walk run for last 3 or 4 months. Did my first ever marathon 8 days ago 4mins run 30 sec walk from the very beginning. 28,000 did the race but I didn’t see anyone else walking at the beginning 😂. Came in at 3:35:44. Without the walk breaks in that last hour I don’t know how I’d have made it. I was VERY tired even with them! Recovery was decent until I played cricket Saturday then ran 15k Sunday. Too much too soon

    Great tips. I've started run/walk to get my fitness back and its surprising me with the paces I'm able to get with it to the point I believe it's just a better way to run(and walk) thanks for the video.

  • I just turned 57 and running my first marathon (NYC) in a few days. I didn’t train with this technic but I’m going to use it this Sunday. They say “nothing new on race day” but I don’t see any possible downside as long as I keep the ratio low and don’t walk for more than 30 seconds. Thanks for an informative video.
  • I'm training for a half marathon and have been using the run walk run method after seeing your original video on it. I'm typically doing 2 mins running versus 30 seconds of walking but might experiment a bit as I am finding the long runs hard going at the moment and it's shaking my confidence.     Thanks for this video about the run/walk method and how you use it. I'm 66 and run/walk is my only choice for training lol. I may have missed this in the video (you talk faster than I do, haha) - but do you always do run/walk workouts (except the trail running)?

    Your video quality is outstanding! Did you get a new camera? The sound during your run was also excellent and I could hear you clearly. But something happened to the sound when you were indoors. I could only hear your voice in my left earpiece and some kind a background noise in the right. I thought something was wrong with my headphones until I heard you clearly in both earpieces during your run. The sound was uneven during your indoor recordings. I played the video through a second time just to make sure it wasn't my headphones. Hope you can fix that. Otherwise, great RWR information.

    I like the Galloway method, but I have so many questions about it. According to the online magic mile calculator, my recommended long run pace is 16:03. But two days ago, I walked 5 miles with an average pace of 15:43. So should I even run at all?

    Thoughts on run and stop? I just run until I'm tired and stop until I feel good. I went from two minutes to three hours using my lazy method. ha
