BEEN ON METFORMIN FOR 7 YEARS I HAVE ALL THE SIDE EFFECTS I JUST LEARNED TO LIVE WITH IT. THE PLUS SIDE IS I AM ALMOST 81 NOW AND VERY ACTIVE HEALTHY HAPPY AT A GOOD WEIGHT LOOKING GOOD.
  • Been taking metformin for about 25 years for type 2 diabetes, 2x1000MGS daily. Never had any side effects. It has, however, been very helpful in maintaining my A1C in the normal range for a non-diabetic.. I've had my B12 level checked several times and it is in the middle of the desirable reading . One side effect I might have is, since I will be 79 tomorrow, is the longevity effect metformin is now being tested for. I'm 5 years older now the the 2nd longest lived person in my immediate family. Of course I don't know if metformin has anything to do with the. From my experience metformin it is a safe, effective and inexpensive drug. No reason to fear taking but yes, you may or may not have side effects, like with any drug.......

I stop taking metformin for three months. I was taking 1000 mil per day. When I start up again because my blood sugar was up. I experience diarrhea. It was awful. Now the doc told be to take half a day for two weeks then increase dosage gradually. I have done that and now I am too 1000 mil again. I have to lose weight or else.
  • I was given this but don't take it,mine started as 4 tablets a day and wasn't told to increase dosage but thing I found worse was they pressured me into taking them
