Pattern is from here: www.etsy.com/shop/VintagePatternGirl (at the time of posting, it looks like it might be out of stock, but keep an eye out!)
I got the curtains from a thrift store, but I believe they are originally from IKEA. The red sheer fabric was also thrifted.

I need a Netflix series where Morgan Donner and Abby Cox wear vintage clothing, drink wine and solve mysteries.

I love that you turned them into separates. Such a great idea for using them more often. That skirt will look wonderful with many of your other clothes. Beautiful

I think the "twinsies" outfit with Abby was very much something that other women of the times would have experienced, they'd have done the pattern their way and done this or that differently, so in a way that was like being in the past.
  • I gasped and said, “Oh NOOOOOOOO!” out loud when I remembered that velvet has a nap. What a relief that you had enough fabric! That shade of red is to die for.
  • When I was 11 years old (70 now) my Mother made my Easter dress from red tablecloth and trimmed it with white lace…all by hand, she did not have a sewing machine! It was beautiful, a labor of love.❤

“I love your dress” “Hmmmmyes, I…. Saw it in the window and just… couldn’t resist” Another iconic reference, which, if ya know, ya know….

It's delightful to see you wearing your past projects as you work on this one. The blueprint fern dress is so pretty! Great video :)
  • I am so glad you left the sides loose until you made the under blouse! We are so used to certain fits of clothing that it is hard at times to trust new patterns and go with original styles. You look amazing in this dress and colour!!

It turned out absolutely lovely! 😍 Adore the fact you made it separately, multifunctional clothing is so fun and practical 😊

Lol. I've sewn both velvet and that type of sheer knit shimmer fabric, and I don't think you could have chosen two more difficult ones. I am in awe of your skill in wrangling them through a sewing machine. The top definitely looks better with that sheer blouse underneath. It helps make sense of the under arm opening on the bodice. The over all dress is very pretty and of its time.

I wish all you, who went on the cruise, would do a colab and put all your footage together and show us the fabulousness of the trip.

My mother was a seamstress before she got married and had kids. She made all our prom dresses and made our wedding dresses. She even made her own wedding outfits,-TWICE. Your creativity and practicality remind me of her and that is the highest compliment I can give you.
  • OK, I think we need a video all about different ways to style a bob, your hair looks so cute in every shot!
  • Just wanted you to know,I followed your video on making medieval hoods, and made my own. I had to buy a sewing machine, very happy with the results. Thank you for tutorial videos that are easy enough for non sewers to understand.
  • And now I have renewed hope that the sort of walking skirt I am making out of blue chenille curtains will be ready (along with the coat I haven't started and the dress I still need to cut parts for) for my trip to Paris in just over two weeks. Too much procraftinating is my downfall 😔

I always love the way you alter patterns to meet your own esthetic. Skirts made flowier, spaghetti straps added etc. Sometimes it makes it more challenging but you always push through and have beautiful results. 😍

The skirt hook and pin trick is such a great idea for finding the placement of the eye!! Seriously terrific little hack!
