Have you experimented with a smaller wardrobe? What were your takeaways?
  • Yes for a small wardrobe WITH color! I don't think that is talked about nearly enough
  • I’ve lived with chronic illness for over five years and the majority of what i wear is dumpy sweatpants and sweatshirts, which make me feel so, well, homely. You help me realize that you can look cute, but still cozy, and this makes me mentally feel so much better. And it’s such a good reminder that we can have a few of our favorite pricier pieces, rather than loads of cheap stuff that doesn’t last and that we don’t really like. ❤
  • Hi Madisun, one of my subscribers told me about your amazing videos. Thank you so much for sharing my book and the ten-item wardrobe concept. I'm so happy that it has been a transformative process for you. I love your wardrobe. It is so cheerful and stylish! I've subscribed! Love, Jennifer
  • @20kjw
Not quite 10 - girl you can’t count! 😂 I actually love that you didn’t limit to 10! It’s so refreshing to see someone who loves every item and that there are no formulas or must have bland fashion items ❤
  • I just discovered what I have been, my entire life, starting as a baby, and graduating through every stage of my life so far. Watching your videos absolutely made me positive about who I have always been, but, I really never knew there was a word or life choice for it…. Minimalism. It all makes sense to me now. When I was tiny, I used to get overwhelmed with stuff, things, toys, sounds. My “safe” and cozy place was always my bedroom. I only kept a few toys in it, a desk with art supplies, but neatly stacked, clothes that made me happy, and my favorite books. I spent so many hours in my room, starting around five years on, and, it was not because I was antisocial. I LOVED being around my family and friends, but, my sensitivities to my surroundings always got in the way. If I got a new toy, I would always give a toy away. This was not my parents idea, and, sometimes, they even felt sad I was giving away my things, but, it never made me sad at all. This was the same with clothing. I wore my things, of which I only had a few, until they fell apart. If I was gifted something, and it just was not me, I would ask my parents if I could give it to my cousins, or, donate it. As I got older, had my own house, started having babies, and babies, and more babies, haha, I became even more aware of just how much stuff was around. I sometimes would go on a cleaning kick, trying desperately to not feel overwhelmed by my surroundings. It was harder keeping things organized or minimal, when most of the things around me were not mine. Only when we sold EVERYTHING to move to an island, did I realize how happy I was. I finally felt free. Then, we moved back, and we started accumulating it all again. Really, until watching these videos, I never understood why I felt this way. I always kept my feelings quiet, as, what kind of nut complains about having too much, but, now I realize I am not a nut, just a minimalist. What a wonderful feeling that is! Thank you for your insight, as, it makes me know who I am now!

The idea that I can admire something without buying it really resonated with me. I have applied it for weeks now & it has been a huge shift! Now I am only buying what looks good on my body. I can appreciate fashion like art & I don’t have to own it to enjoy it. 👏👏👏
  • @MichelleNovalee
I’m DYING for a wardrobe update from you! I’m rewatching this one. You’re an inspiration! 🌟🌜🌝
  • Yes!! I really felt a block while decluttering and scaling down my wardrobe for the longest because I felt like I couldn’t be minimalist unless I only owned white black beige or denim items and I finally have figured out I’m allowed to be expressive with color and prints. Such a silly revelation 🤣
  • After quitting social media I started seeking out a few YouTube channels that were in line with my values and encouraged/ inspired me. Yours has been my favorite I’ve found! Especially after watching your couch makeover video…I recently made a floor couch with a body pillow as the back for it and I had used the same linen cover from the same brand on etsy. I took that as a huge sign to keep watching your stuff😊. I watch a video or two in the evening as I find them super calming and motivating to me to keep living a more minimalist life that allows me to live my best life. Super excited to see you had just posted this one as I’m preparing to massively downsize my closet (the one area I’m not so minimalist in) Love the summer wardrobe!
  • Hi Madi, being from Italy, I've always lived on what here is considered a small or capsule wardrobe 😄 Even as a kid, my mom made sure we had clean and tidy clothes to wear and we always looked presentable without having a closet full of items! That's something that I carried with me through my adult years🥰✨️
  • @MadsBee3
I felt that SO much you saying you tried to fit yourself into the typical neutral minimalism capsule wardrobe. I think that’s why I’ve never been successful with it. Love color, love pattern and I’m definitely going to declutter my wardrobe with a new mindset this week!! ❤
  • @AlexAndra-rw1kl
This is such a great example of how you can have a minimalist wardrobe that doesn't subscribe to the typical expectations of "minimalism" i.e. all black, white or gray clothing. It's so great to see how someone can still express their personality and unique taste in a small wardrobe
  • @kitkat88816
Love that you have fresh colours and fun statements clothing rather then just white beige grey and black basics
  • @Tuka
I have a 20 itens summer/spring wardrobe and from that 15 pieces are dresses. The other pieces are for crafting and for occasions that I need to be in shorts/shirts
  • @katie3700
Ah...these are my favorite videos of yours...mainly because I'm still working on mine...trial and error and figuring out my personal style and what I actually like to wear! I just hung up thinking I need to have so much more and it keeps me from letting the "its okay" items go" Thanks so much for the inspiration!
  • I feel like every item of clothing I’m considering donating, my husband inevitably tells me how much he loves it on me 😂
  • When you said— “let me tell you how much better I feel when I’m laying around the house in this nice matching outfit compared to a grungy or mismatched T-shirt & sweatpants”…this hit home for me!! 🎉🎉🎉 I get it completely & it was a total mindset shift as I prepare to pair down my wardrobe ❤
  • For summer items i would not have a problem to make a 10 item wardrobe. But those items that you show: i could wear them max 30 days a year in Belgium... This wardrobe is beautiful because withbevery item, you have a new look. But in Belgium where I live, i have to wear one or two sweaters almost every day on top of the outfit. And if you only own like 2 sweaters, you look the same every day. So i have like 7 sweaters... And i have long sleeve t-shirts to wear underneath. And then you also need pants. In the wardrobe that you show, you are Often completely dressed with only one item. That's completely undoable in winter in Belgium. Also: the rotating system of seasons is not very helpful here because sometimes we have 4 seasons in one day. It can start being 3 degrees Celcius and sunny, two hours later 23 degrees Celcius and one hour later back to 15 and icecold rain... So i would like to have some inspiration for colder climates as i find this very difficult. The people i see with capsule wardrobes in colder areas own like only 2 sweaters but that to me is depressing as I wear one every day from september till june!
