He doesn't need "tricks", he just needs to learn how to solder.
  • @tonsssedell4318
This is a pointless solution to a nonexistent problem. What would work is learning to properly solder. It's easy and there are lots of tutorials on Youtube.

Wouldn't a cotter pin and a nail worked just as well? Besides that, if you pre-heat the copper wire before you attempt to tin it, the solder flows much smoother and faster.
  • @ddemko100
I think the issue is your skill level and not the soldering iron itself...
  • @Cornz38
    Absolutely pointless garbage.
  • @wheater5
Why go on YouTube and advertise the fact that you have no idea how to use a soldering iron?
  • @chilledoutpaul
Have you ever thought to clean and look after your soldering iron tips, I have brass wool to clean my tips with and flux to dip the tips in this conditions the tips too, I have 3 tips of different sizes and I change the tip size to what i am working on!
  • @user-tm1mt2vp5p
Here's an idea "just get a larger soldering iron" no charge for that Genius suggestion.
  • This is the best and most effective way of trying to break your ceramic heating element! (They don't take kindly to lateral pressure when the guard tube is off) I wouldn't be surprised if he opened it again to find the heater element broken loose at it's base, and hanging by it's mains leads! DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME...

If you mount the copper wire sideways and put the heat under the copper wire you will heat up the copper wire and then the solder will transfer onto the copper wire. Also clean the soldering iron tip with fine sandpaper or steel wool.
  • @tbirdtezdean2486
keep the tip clean on your iron, what a mess at the end LOL. you haven't the first idea how to solder, and have you ever heard of flux ?
  • @rodnyg7952
just clean the tip of your iron correctly, add some flux to the copper, and heat up the copper before adding solder to it
  • @mattsauro8881
Maybe he should try using the actual tip of the soldering iron where the heat is most concentrated and what it's made for. Also for that gage wire, you don't use a soldering iron also known as a soldering pencil. You have minimum use a soldering gun with broader tips and higher heat ranges. I'm all for new ways of doing things but try the right way first!
