Making the perfect fried chicken as we know it — juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside — used to be a luxury. But a man named Harland Sanders changed that after mastering his own recipe – inside a gas station.

The old man went through so much and I’m honoured to have been working there for 2 years as a cook and making the chicken he worked so hard to formulate
  • It is sad that Kentucky Fried Chicken is gone. When they changed to to KFC they shortcutted everything from the way the Chicken was deep-fried to the way the mashed potatoes were made. I was fortunate to have worked at a Kentucky Fried Chicken in the early 80's.

He was still hustling and sleeping in his car at 63, what a lad.

He started his big business at the age of 66. It's never too late folks! Respect for this businessman

I love Kentucky Fried Chicken as I did growing up in the 70's which I still like the orginal recipe. I wish they still sold dinner rolls vs biscuits and wish still had baked beans too.

I can remember my Dad in the 70's, bringing home a bucket of KFC. Its was great. Today...the chicken is not the same. If the Colonel was alive..he would shut them all down. Just not the same !!

"Every failure is a stepping stone to something better" -- Harland Sanders. Fantastic Quote.
  • This actually made me feel a little better, namely the lesson about adversity. I’m in a spot in my own life in that sense too. We see all the superficial images but it goes to show that even huge successes are touched by failure and hardship
  • My boss was a limo driver and drove the original colonel sanders back in the day to a kfc commercial shoot in Illinois. He said the colonel sat up front with him and had a great conversation with him and apparently he is a very good guy.

Imagine Sanders in his car, crying about his worries as he munches his own KFCs.

I wish everyone had the chance to try it back in the 60s and 70s. It was truly amazing chicken then. It's ok now, but a far cry from what it once was. The only way now is to make it yourself. Thank you Colonel, wherever you are! - Ed on the Ridge
