The war in Ukraine has become a real-life testing ground for advanced weaponry, with drones taking center stage. Among these innovations is the S-70 Okhotnik, also known as Hunter-B. This unmanned combat aerial vehicle signifies Russia's push towards integrating high-tech stealth and combat capabilities into its drone fleet. The Kremlin boasts that the S-70 will be a game-changer on the battlefield and NATO is definitely watching closely.

Russia initially planned a swift deployment of the S-70, with deliveries slated for 2024. However, this timeline has been a moving target. In April 2023, production was pushed back to no earlier than 2025. Now, recent reports suggest a potential return to a late 2024 production start. This statement was revealed by the Novosibirsk district vice-governor, where the production of this unmanned drone will take place. This inconsistency timeline leads us to confusion: when will the S-70 see service, and what role will it have in the ongoing conflict?

the russians never said their weapons are best being it evident, especially when it's not fighting against third world countries with kids with slingshots and goat herders with ak's but when they say their weapon is "good" , you better belive it.

Russia has figured out that these cutting edge (read: expensive) weapons often aren't worth the trouble.

  • I think that Russia had problems with this project at the stage when it was supposed to carry the most advanced Russian missiles, but when Russia solved the problem with FAB bombs, it is obvious that Okhotnik will carry mainly FAB bombs, which is a huge success considering the whole situation. And if it is announced that the first copies will appear soon, then it is certain that the first pair of these free aircraft over Ukraine can be expected very soon, and as for the more advanced phase of this project, it will probably be held for the next ones

I think Russia won't miss the chance to try it in real combat.
  • The Russian S-70 Okhotnik and SU-57 have been in service in Ukraine. Listen, don't expect a personalized letter or announcement from Russia to you. To inform you about the use of these weapon systems in Ukraine. It's not coming.

The S-70 look like the Chinese CH-7 heavy stealth drones. I believe Russia has obtained the critical components from China for full production. Since China have highly advanced stealth recon and attack drones in service such as WZ-7 and GJ-11. Why didn't US use its stealth drones in Ukraine? This is puzzling.
  • Russia has got more than enough hardware. The sanctions has NO EFFECT on ANYTHING in RUSSIA. 😂😂😂
  • @oldhag2881
The 'flying wing' configuration seems to lend itself to stealth.
