  • When I saw "Churchill`s German gun nightmare" I thought you were referring to the V3 guns at Mimoyecques, near Landrethun-le-Nord (France). They too gave Churchill nightmares until they were virtually destroyed by bombing raids and later after the liberation of that part of France by the British army as Churchill still saw it as a potential threat to London. much to the unhappiness of the French Government in exile as they had not been consulted prior to its final destruction.

I knew about this gun but didn't know there were any left. What a monster ! Thank you for sharing. It has been a lesson I will remember and share.

The famous rail guns are indeed an incredible piece of engineering. I know you can get a plastic model kit of them that I have been meaning to get and build for years now, just never had the time.
  • @Radikul71
Great video ! I have already found the two bunkers and the Leopold gun and museum and also one of the rail tunnels that were used to hide the guns in too . Ready for for more ! What a team you guys are going to be , You narrating and EE as the Navigator .
  • @Just-me-Laura
Thank you for the history behind that location and huge K5 gun. I would hate to run into one of those guns if I were the enemy. That battle one would lose. Take care HH & EE ❤
  • I guess Churchill was concerned about such a huge, powerful weapon. And it was so close to England! Thank you for showing it to us, HH and EE!❤
  • @lloyd4768
Thanks! We're actually going over there next week as a tour group!!!
  • @Bill53AD

  • @Erik-hh9bp
Awsome! I was asking you about the rail guns. And you said you seen them. Thank you brother. Perhaps one if these day's, I would like to enjoy a few drinks and listen to the story's you learned. Skål.

  • @JuleyC
Love this format and that it will allow you to do places that are too far to reasonably travel to yourselves. I wish this had been there in 83 when we travelled to the UK from Germany I'd have loved to have seen it. Great Job EE on the navigation. Looking forward to more of these Fly to WW2 episodes.
  • @northernskys
The K-5's had a maximum range of around 64 km's, with normal shells, so could easily reach across the narrow part of the Channel, but, if they used the rocket assisted shell, they could reach up to 86km, and that would definitely be a concern during the build up to D-Day! Love this new series format. It will certainly bring a whole new depth to WW2 History being able to pinpoint locations like these! Thank you for sharing this fascinating location, and the background info! Cheers!
  • @bluerebel01
This new video format brings even more excitement to your channel. Keep up the good work and as always " Good Hunting "
  • Fantastic video, love your new format. I have seen many documentaries about and with these railway guns. But none as interesting as this. Great job HH and EE, thank you for this.
