I didn't realize my music was on when I recorded this so I apologize for the background music. Sorry Dad.

At this point in life I don’t care to make my parents proud. I just want a house to enjoy it and see my kids grow, me and wife get old and fly away and kids can sell that home and move on with their lives.

The pressure of being the first generation is no joke. My parents pressured me in buying a house back in 2020. Thanks to them, i was able to get my first dream home at under 2 percent interest rate. Couldn't thank them enough. They were just looking out for me.

Javier, you’re not just an informative and entertaining real estate guy, you’re a good human. This was really, really cool. Thank you.

Trust me, as long as you are healthy and happy your parents will always be proud💯
  • @baconcerberus
Jokes on you, nothing I do will make my parents proud.😢
  • Excellent video. Always nice to hear your prospective that I can totally relate to. Let’s lift each other up instead of bringing each other down! Let’s celebrate all of our successes as if they are our own!!!

We are debt free, cars paid for, retirement accounts on track but can’t afford a simple house…crazy. But I have seen too much with this economy over my lifetime to let FOMO run my life.

Dude you went vulnerable for the cam. That was awesome bro! I’m south East Asians no understand all the parent and cousin shade you mention. Well said bro! Screw broken parents! We are always deserving for love. You will make the next generation better. Good job my guy

I send my parents news segments and articles showing data on how people in my generation cannot afford to buy. They feel empathy for like 3 seconds, then a week later send me a house listing that I can't afford. I'm about to prepare a powerpoint with stats and data and breaking it down how my husband and I can't afford a home lol

Sometimes I think this comes in the form of parents hopes and dreams. This video helped me realize my parent’s hopes and dreams of seeing me be able to own our my home one day is unfulfilled as I am not a homeowner, yet. (I feel “kinda” second gen as one of my parents was born in another country before moving to America!) Even though my parent expressed these desires positively…I’m realizing how much I still want to fulfill this vision. Plus the pressure in society to have achieved certain milestones in the 30s. I agree that adjusting expectations are needed! Thanks for your thoughts. 💕

This is so great Javier. It is just what I needed to hear tonight. No one pressures me to buy a house but I want one so bad and today a house came on the market that is just right for me and would take all my IRA money to buy and then I'd have to get a little more. But this is not good because I am 68 and probably couldn't get work in the remote location of the house. It's been driving me crazy all day. No one else is going to help me but me. I have to be safe.

Me & my wife make 95k a yr. My in laws are baffled on why we say we can't afford to buy a house. They claim we make more money then they did when they were our age and they were able to buy a home. I feel like a failure.
  • @bethan.gruffydd
this is great, everyone needs to think through these issues. love that you shared these thoughts, Javier
  • @annemarre
I thought at first you were talking about my mum! The same exact line from her :)

My parents never had a house, and still don't in their 50's. I bought a 2 story, 4 bedroom house in my 20's. Mortgage is 19% of my net monthly income. If anything I was worried about making them feel bad by doing so well. Lol. I love them dearly, and hope I can put them in their own houses one day (they aren't together).
  • @ron5493
Wise and generous of you. Good job.
  • @mhodge0890
Thank you for being honest Javier most home owners love to tell us but now or look down at us renters for renting and think home ownership is everything. I’m like I’m debt free life is good I’m saving and investing
  • @dopeventura

The machismo mentality dies with our generation!
