  • Thank you, I wish I had seen this 10 years ago. You made an understandable approach to glazing. And your music took me back to the 80's😅

Nicely explained and easy to follow.
  • Thank you Taylor for this video. I am currently exploring adding transparent colors to my palette to get the best glazing mixtures. It is a lot of fun for certain.
  • An excellent video, Ms Powell. Thanks!! Too many people are unaware that the best way to glaze is by spreading the paint in an almost drybrush manner, just as you demonstrate here. If you'll forgive a pedantic point, a glaze is a darker colour spread more or less thinly over a lighter base, whereas a scumble is semi-transparent lighter paint over a darker base. A scumble creates the delicate optical grays that are so beautiful.

Best glassing best glazing video I have seen on YouTube. I personally like the old masters use of glazing howling don’t have the patience to wait 16 years for a good result to be rendered like DaVinci Lol. Saludos beautiful

Really appreciated this video, thank-you. Glazing doesn't get enough love! I will say, though, that it is important to not use more than 40% linseed oil (to paint) in your mix. It sounds like one of those rules people make to have rules (like never use black etc.), but I have had the linseed separate and roll down my painting in globules. Uggh. Beautiful work!

You’re so cool! Yeah you are a skilled painter obviously but as a life long Metal head I very much appreciate it your soundtrack
  • looove the video. depending on the piece I use more or less glassing (altrough Im tending to use them more bc they allow to stylize in a way I find more appealing than direct realism) but I kind of used them instinctically so I made a lot of little mistakes I had to fix later on the painting (like not using a brush that was tooooo wet). the music was a bit confusing.
