One of the things I really loved about Kerbal Space Program 2 was its graphics – the water, lighting engine, the engines themselves, or, you know, specifically their exhausts, were just beautiful. But, that’s about where KSP2’s redeeming qualities come to an end. KSP 1 is better in almost every other metric. But, what if there was a way we could enhance Kerbal Space Program 1 to not only match the beauty of KSP 2, but SURPASS IT. Well, in this video, I will be exploring just this. Because, legendary modder BlackRack has released a mod that brings deferred rendering support to Kerbal Space Program, which makes lighting look better AND improves game performance with many light sources!

  • 22:20 if you look at kerbal engineer your situation is Landed, which means that the game thinks you are landed, thus it shows no orbital line (because why would it if you are on the ground), camera shake happens because when you move over terrain in ksp, the camera likes to shake

well done lowne, you've been missing out not having these mods, i swear
  • @thegoon1353
I'm gonna miss the dynamic music that 2 had, really made the whole exploration aspect that much more exhilarating
  • @dallor09
now that matt is doing KSP mods the question is will he ever get over his fear of RSS 😂
  • @perodactyl490
Stratzenblitz75 would be proud of your accidental landed state while ascending to Duna's orbit
  • I really hope KSP 2 gets sold to another company so it can continue development

as an "in lore" reason for introducing mods: you/your viewer community could come up with your own in-game tech advancement tree - following some logical pattern, (but not necessarily constrained 100% by such - where it would make more sense in the installation process to diverge from logic), and have story beats of your own invention in each episode which allow you to "unlock" the next mod or mods in your planned list. That way you can both explore mods, and have those mods make more tangible sense to those learning them, as they'll be tied to the story, and we humans tend to remember things better when we tie them to stories. :)

Stratzenblitz did a video on something similar to this glitch you encountered. When you took off from Duna, something kept the ascent vehicle from switching from the state “LANDED” to “FLYING”, as you can see in the Kerbal Engineer display. That’s also what causes the mysterious shaking. Stratzenblitz abused this glitch to allow for flight under the surface of Duna and Jool.
  • @BTAxistube
Now there needs to be a mod that eliminates most of the loading time.
  • @raymondgradzewicz
24:00 reminds me of the first episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. "Did he say you will doing this manually sir? No automation?"
  • @slim5816
Now we only need a good colony mod and one for interstellar travels
  • @flightgamer7849
So glad KSP1 is back to being the focus of modders.  It is simply my favorite by far. Warts and all.
  • @visyxl
Those visual mods are simply stunning, so buetiful. Can't wait for matt to play rss with this.
  • @Rejinod
Hey Matt! The reason why your orbital line did not show on your Duna ascent is because your craft was in a "landed" state, which means that the game thinks you are on the surface of Duna, so it doesn't have to render the orbital lines. Hope this helped!
  • @Bean-boi
Hey Matt, one thing I discovered after a mishap during flight is that the Apollo style command pod can return using only one radial parachute (except if you carry too much mass so you gotta jettison the heat shield), meaning that there's no clutter between parashutes and they aren't awkwardly sticking from the sides.
  • @MrSockez
I've been using almost this exact same visual mod list for a while and its just chefs kiss every time I open the game and look at those clouds on the menu
