From next year, the government expects all public schools to teach students to read in a "proven structured literacy approach".

The pre-Budget announcement was made by Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Education Minister Erica Stanford on Thursday afternoon.

It comes after the government this week announced its six education priorities.

Stanford said the approach would change the way Kiwi children learnt to read, improve achievement and set students up for success.

National should submit a draft resolution to the UN to expel the Russian trespasser representatives. Russia is not a member and that is a huge thing our govt could contribute, more than aukus.

One good thing Luxon is doing. if it works. Nice speech, from the heart. Why are the mindless abuse comments left here, rnz? They are unlikely to be new zealanders.

Wow, she didn't mention the most critical fact? Class size ratios. Libraries have a ratio, one adult to six kids. In order to really turn it around, maths 1 hour per child, reading 1 hour per child etc..in one day. Let's say 25 kids times 3 hours, equals 75 hours each day. Group settings aren't specific for each child's needs. Golly, she treats people like they are stupid. He is married, girl, come on. You are misleading kiwis, and Luxon. Round and round the mulberry bush we go.
