We had a similar issue towing with our R1T through Colorado a few weeks ago. Had the nav set to a charging stop while interstate driving through the mountains (minimal elevation change and temps mid 80’s). Battery was pre-conditioning and noticed it getting hot in the cabin, and realized A/C had all but stopped working. Cancelled the nav (which ended battery preconditioning) and A/C started working again. Reset nav to next charger and then it seemed to maintain cabin temps. Happened again later in the trip. Not sure if this is a bug in the latest Rivian software as it has never happened before towing in hot temps, so will keep an eye on it!

That AC hit on the hummer is INSANE
  • @MDillonEV
Nice video! We are heading there tomorrow morning in our R1S from Lavista. Your stops were helpful, thanks!

Do you have a Cybertruck reserved? I want to see a CT towing an airstream 😊

How many mi/KWH did you get in the Rivian R1S from Lincoln to Branson? Btw I live in Vegas I just got Max pack Rivian R1S hoping to be able to make it to our cabin in Duck Creek Village Utah in one run no charging. going to try it tomorrow. I'm originally from Branson grew up there lived there all my life on table rock Lake until we moved to Vegas 12 years ago we LOVE BRANSON!!!

Is there phantom drain in the hummer like what the rivian has?
  • The Hummer seems to use the AC to cool the big battery pack down how many pumps are there on the Hummer to cool the Hummer cooling system in my opinion, requires a complete cooling system as they have been using in their semi-truck and keep it like the combustion engine system although adapt the electronic motor to except the highest capacity coolant pumps to push it threw the batteries none of the manufactories have designed the right size batteries for any vehicle the only ones who have are the national security in the government. When government does decide to let the public receive the technology that is always the biggest question out there. For now, we have to use the old combustion engine system force to combine both technologies, to keep those big batteries cool they do not have enough airflow threw the batteries because they are not spread threw everyone's vehicle all batteries require a way to discharge their gases during extreme temperatures hot and cold basic batteries cemetery. All Hummer's older and newer versions do require the semi-truck cooling system except now all EVs because of the battery layout and disengage Once that is fixed and redesigned to keep the battery cool the cooling system is going to be so big and heavy the roads are going to require replacement just for the weight 1. If you guys can figure that out don't let the government or the vehicle ask you for the technology because once they have got it the rest of the world will be paying an extremely higher cost for the item than what you paid to design it. 2. If you guys can figure that out remember your time and effort and should have a $$$ and ### for the break threw. 3. I am not telling you what to do but what I have seen myself and gone through with my ideas and got the shaft. 4. Make sure you have a PATIENT on the project or ideas once they are out there!!! Sincerely! R.S.V.
  • Wow yeah that's what I want in my $100,000 vehicle... stressing if I can make it 200 miles... Then you get the added joy of wasting hours in hot parking lots consuming doodoo Starbucks.
