41.2 XPS Gunite form for the South Wall

Published 2020-02-02
Here, we build some XPS formwork for gunite (or shotcrete). We decided it was better to keep the steel studs out of the shotcrete, so we rearranged the order of the layers a little and can use the extra room to add insulation. This is also a window wall, so we needed to put in window and door bucks.

I watch a lot of alternate house builds, this by far is my favorite, it's really coming along.

There was a lot to this update. The circular framed window looks very exciting!
  • Said it before and I'll say it again, this project should be one of the most viewed on YouTube. More, more, more...I can't wait to see the outcome.

It's always a joy to follow your progress. Thank you.
  • The build is coming along very well, your kids will be expert builders (or arch engineers) by the time you complete this project, keep up the good work 👍
  • Nice build, but please when holding wood on the right of the miter saw use you're right hand to hold the wood and operate the saw with left. (5:11 is one example) And visa versa, the way you do it some times is a accident waiting to happen.

Looking good just one question that round window frame you formed up and installed looked like that I-beam ran through the bottom , you might have some trouble installing the window with a piece of steel in the way 'just sayin" . Great job guys every step is a step forward .

Volume is great, thx. Looks like the garage bathroom was a good decision? I noticed more than a few door position changes in the curved wood beams timelapse.

What brand of galvanized steel studs did you use? They look perfect for light weight applications.

You've been at this since 2014, are you not concerned that you'll get fed up looking at the place and just sell it?
