As a cop I always encouraged people to DISCREETLY get cell phone photos of the person/s they are dealing with and the license plate of the car they are driving. Pretend to make a call, pretend to take a picture of the property, be clever and get those pics because if something happens it will help immensely in identifying the culprit. If it is someone claiming to a professional (property manager, realtor, etc.) ask for a business card, folks in those positions almost always have a card. For meeting places besides the property, a business office, etc. a bank lobby is always handy. They have surveillance cameras so everyone's faces are recorded. If the person offering the property wants to meet in some obscure location such as a parking lot, etc. your spider senses should be tingling on overtime. Great video, informative and helpful. Thank you.

My partner and i saw an apartment. Application was free and she didn't ask about any deposit rather a $250 tp hold the apartment. After filling the application and signing the lease.. now I'm trying to contact the property and no answer not through phone and not through email. We did met with someone yo view yhe property. And she was in the building office. I'm not being scam? I need yo make sure i can get keys on Friday. So i can start moving things on the weekend apparently she said everything is fine. But I'm anxious because she didn't set an appointment to get the keys.
