KNITTING MITTENS FOR THE DEVIL.....(The Mittens Trilogy)
PART I. PIGEON FOR RELIGION

Knitting mittens for the Devil
Burning down the Sacred Shrine
Getting looped and quite belligerent
On sacramental wine

Wash your car in holy water
Feed those wafers to your dog
Snore loudly through the sermon
While you're sleeping like a log

Dirty limericks in the hymnals
Whoopee cushions on the pews
Lock the bathrooms at the Vatican
And nail down all their shoes

Fill the Pope's hat up with shaving cream
When he goes to give a blessing
And pretend that you're a werewolf
Next time that you're confessing

Oh Father, bless my chainsaw
My old pickup, and my Uzi
Must be easy to be holy
Sitting there in your Jacuzzi

Saving souls at discount prices
Pass those savings on to me
Send those cards and prayer donations
To that address on T.V.

They take the money and the tax break
And buy up real estate
They don't care about the guy who lives
In a fridgerator crate

Well, I like brotherhood and God, just fine
I'm trying to soothe my soul
But if I gotta have religion
Then I'll take Rock and Roll

There's nothing like good music
And good people, and good eating
"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord"
Like an old revival meeting

If you think of all the bloody victims
Set up like a pigeon,
A lot less died for Elvis
Than in the name of some religion.

That was awesome! 'Religion Pigeon' is a new concept to me. As a vociferous atheist I'm surprised i haven't encountered it before. Very interesting. I've been entertained AND educated. Thanks! 🙈🙉🙊
