  • I can’t believe I’m feeling nostalgic over the Nintendo Switch launch. I still remember the time when we only knew it as the mysterious “NX” like it was yesterday.

There are no words to describe how magical it was playing Breath of the Wild for the first time with your new shiny Switch in the release year.

As someone who only got into the Switch in 2020, it's pretty cool hearing about its launch era.

I would never have guessed I’d be having nostalgia over this time. If you had asked me back in the day, I would have said 2017 sucked. But looking back, as I’ve gotten older and more shit has happened to me. I cherish 2017 for what it was, and the Nintendo Switch was a big part of it.

I didn’t get my Switch until Dec 2017 as that was when THE game I needed released: Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I actually remember getting the XC2 Collectors Edition from Amazon before I even had a Switch, so I would just peruse the artbook day after day until I could finally make it to a GameStop to pick up a console. The only problem was that the game released about a week before Uni finals, so I definitely bombed at least one of those tests. Worth it in the end, XC2 rules. It’s also interesting to me how Scott’s channel kind of started with the Switch. His first “Scott the Woz” was a Switch wishlist. Whenever the Switch successor does come out it’ll feel like the end of an era…until it’s just a Switch 2 and Scott has a “Nintendo Switch 2 Wish List” video and the cycle begins anew.

2017 was such a fantastic year and the switch was a big part of it. I love that year so much

I started getting back into Nintendo shortly before the Switch was revealed. I definitely remember the hype leading up to release. I started watching a lot of Nintendo-centric YouTubers around that time and first found Scott from one of his wish list videos. A lot of creators started gaining traction from those early days of the switch, but I’m very glad that Scott has kept his momentum through the years. I’ve always liked his snappy humour paired with his detailed and well thought ideas and analyses. From a guy who has been viewer since my first year of middle school, all the way through to my graduation. I want to thank you!

The switch generation has been a wild ride for sure. The fact that Smash Ultimate will be 5 years old next year is crazy, I remember watching the Everyone is Here reveal while eating lunch in College. That feels so recent somehow.

I can’t believe I just sat thru a 20 minute video of Scott reading a pamphlet and enjoyed it.

I loved the launch of the Nintendo switch, especially the whole “not getting a switch until 2019” thing!

Weird how it took me this long to realize Scott’s Stash is consistently on Wednesdays and Fridays now.
  • This re-awoke my nostalgia for 2017. I got the red Mario Odyssey switch that came with the game code. It was my first time experiencing a Nintendo console launch where I was fully immersed and in the know leading up to it, and the first Nintendo console I bought on my own. Lots of great memories with this system!
  • Holy moley, cant believe it’s already been 5 years. I remember seeing the Switch’s reveal and launch, but being unable to capitalize on getting one because of lack of money. Wasnt until early 2019 that I finally got one with Smash Ultimate as my first game. Since then Ive either gone back to the early releases or have regularly kept up with current releases: Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Breath of the Wild, Age of Calamity, Three Houses & Three Hopes, Legends Arceus.

The coolest use of the IR sensor is definitely for Ring Fit Adventure. Play it regularly and would hate to see the next switch lose that ability not just for that game but also for another patented Nintendo inspired applications.
  • @KanaIzumiya
How can it be called Scott's Stash if he doesn't even have a mustache?!
  • @wenoay
im still not over the fact that 1 2 switch was not a pack-in
  • @MrAwesome191
I like how Scotts stash has sort of evolved into relaxed Scott the Woz, the content and stuff all seems like enough to fit in an older episode but in a more open format and less quick and quippy
  • @ToonGohan
I have fond memories of 2017 because of the switch and being part of the Nintendo community. Following the hype train through YouTubers like CND and Etika and being at the midnight release was so fun.

Man I remember the launch of the nintendo switch when I bought Breath of the Wild on the Wii U because I was just a kid and couldn't afford a switch. That said, I still have a tone of nostalgia from watching just tons of stuff about the switch and the games. That was the first year I watched E3. When I finally got the switch that Christmas with mario oddyssey, that was an awesome day
