Three cheers for Judge Boyd!! I can’t say how much I appreciate the sensitivity she shows to people before her who have serious mental illness, and the caring manner she uses so that the people never feel offended. I’m a psychologist, so I’m fully able to appreciate the way she manages very difficult, sensitive, possibly volatile situations. Schizophrenia is the worst of the worst….there’s just no way to explain what a constant burden it is for people who have it, even WITH meds. What’s also amazing is that the Judge is the one to bring up the question of mental health services in 90% of the cases I’ve seen, which is just outstanding.
