Love this woman and her testimony. May she and her family be remembered always. Thank you Shoah Foundation for taking the time to document these stories. Wonderful photos at the end.
  • what a wonderful woman. so full of joy and such radiant kindness and love shines from inside.
  • What a great story told in such a beautiful way. The interviewer was fantastic. I loved Learning about the culture and difficulties they faced and how they got around an almost impossible situation. I’m Australian and let me say I agree the shock of coming here after being in a culturally rich society in Europe would have been massive. Modern Melbourne is so diverse and richer for all of the migrants that have brought their culture to us. Well done Fanny. You’re a ripper.

What a delightful lady! And such an interesting and different testimony. This lady has such a sunny disposition.
  • What an interesting story. I love her frankness and she has a good memory for a young girl.
  • Listening to fannys testimony is fascinating , she made me laugh at her reactions when someone came or there was a noise a bit of lighthearted fun in an otherwise harrowing episode x
  • I have a sister that we never got along either. She's 13 years older than me. This woman is very lovely. Terrible what happened to her

The German planes that bombed their car column in May 1940 were "Stukas", short for "Sturzkampfbomber" (dive bomber).

Hard to believe that her father could use 2 orphaned boys to get across the border and then just leave them. Especially after she kept noting who failed to help them without asking for money-whether or not the people could afford to help without the money or not
