The Sea of Thieves Is Nearing Its End - Sea of Thieves.

Today, we're going over a huge downside with the Sovereigns, where they look to be envoys of the Grand Maritime Union. They do appear to be the biggest threat to the Sea of Thieves, even more than the Dark Brethren and even more than Captain Flameheart (who is not a threat, anyway). While the Pirate Lord celebrates his small victories and names ships as part of the Captaincy Update, the temperature rises.

Now, all we have to is wait until Season 8 in November...

Although I did side with Merrick in Lost Sands, I will not hesitate to side with the Reapers if the Grand Maritime Union is involved.
  • @Blacktail91
I've been saying for years they should add pirate npc ships or convoys escorting treasure ships from all the different factions.
  • Would love to have a lost sands type event where we decided to keep the sovereigns or not when they are found out to be working with the GMU
  • For a second I was terrified when I saw the video title, I thought the game was shutting down or some sh!t. This is very exciting, been wondering if the GMU would come into play for a good while now.
  • Hunter's call player: Never thought i'd die fighting side by side with a reaper. Reaper player: Why not side by side with a friend? Hunter's call player: Aye. I could do that.
  • This sparks a theory in my mind. Just before the Sov's showed up in the seas, DeMarco was murdered. And then when they did show up, suddenly Ramsey is the biggest suspect for the murder. On top of that, DeMarco was trying to leave the Sea of Thieves... which would put him into the hands of the GMU. What if the Sovereigns caught DeMarco right as he parted the shroud to get through, allowing a handful of them to get through with this rare opportunity, murdered him in cold blood, then framed Ramsey for it and (if they succeed in framing him) used it to get rid of him, therefore getting rid of a big hurdle in their plans to take over the seas
  • Would be intresting to fight the sovereigns down the line and if you fight them on the seas they will pay less for your treasure

I would love to see an event where all ships in a server have to team up to take on the Sovereign fleet. Imagine being outnumbered 2 or 3 sovereign ships for 1 pirate ship. Our battle would be Glorious or we would sink trying.

The reason they couldn't cut a deal with the Reapers is because they kept running from them.
  • I may change sides from the Reapers, to the Athena's, and back depending on the situation, but I will side with the reapers to protect the world or piracy we hold so dear to our hearts and I will do anything to keep this lovely world we call home, WHO'S WITH ME!!!
  • @imtomat7357
We now need to wait for captain falcore to confirm this by observing every grain of sand in sea of thieves
  • I thought you were talking about the player base leaving (first)
  • @laneleach
I will not give up my freedom to the sovereign's, I did fight for golden sands, but I will side with the reapers to fight for the pirates life in all it's forms.

The mysterious stranger has a voice line saying “As long as no one sides with the GMU than we will be fine” suggesting athenas fortune and other trading companies wont stand for the GMU. So I think it is quite possible that there will be an alliance between athenas fortune and reapers/flameheart to stop the GMU. And you will choose to fight GMU or fight Pirates
  • I REALLY hope we get another event like golden sands where the playerbase can either side with flameheart or the GMU
  • I feel like selling everything to the sovereigns might in itself be a trap. It saves time and energy, yes. And it's preferable to sell to them instead of taking your loot to 3 different traders and risking all of it to other players. However, nothing good comes without a price, and I feel like that price will reveal itself quite soon.
  • I have two theories on this: A) The Soverigns/GMU will act as an intervention, potentially extending the Flameheart arc by interrupting the final conflict, thus forcing both sides to work together to rid the Seas of GMU influence. Then the Cap'n may be introduced, resulting in a huge 4 way showdown where our enemies conveniently destroy each other. B) Rare is setting up a three act story, and is setting up The Sovereigns/GMU to be the "Act 2" antagonists after Flameheart is defeated, with the Cap'n being the third and final "Act".
  • For a second I thought this was just a "the game is dying" video.
