The University of Southern California has canceled its Class of 2024 valedictorian's speech due to safety issues after pro-Israel groups accused her of being antisemitic.

Asna Tabassum was scheduled to speak at the commencement but has since been told that USC will not allow her to do so due to safety concerns. Provost Andrew Guzman released a statement revoking Tabassum’s ability to speak as valedictorian at her graduation ceremony.

“The intensity of feelings, fueled by both social media and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, has grown to include many voices outside of USC and has escalated to the point of creating substantial risks relating to security and disruption at commencement. We cannot ignore the fact that similar risks have led to harassment and even violence at other campuses,” Guzman said.

After hearing what she said in this report USC did the right thing. We must get the temperature in our nation down.

AIPAC should be required to register under FARA…Stop foreign election interference.
  • Now the woke can feel how censored conservatives have been feeling. Ask her how she would feel if it was a conservative who was speaking on a subject she disliked?

Pretty sure one doesn't have to be pro-Israel to know better than to take a divisively sociopolitical stand for a commencement-speech.

Honestly, hearing her talk just in this phone interview is nauseating. I can’t imagine her at a graduation speaking.

After many other bad speech situations, don’t schools ask for a copy of their speeches ahead of time for approval? Her speech was probably going to be very political and they didn’t want to deal with any backlash from that. My guess is the repercussions of canceling her speech was the lesser evil.
