As a dental hygienist who has practiced for over 30 years I agree with Dr Stock. We need more dentists like him. The majority of dentists are fluoride pushers. I unfortunately have been in several arguments with dentists about the fluoride topic. Patients would ask me what my opinion was when the dentist left the room. I have been told not to tell patients that fluoride was bad. Dental offices make $$$ off of giving FL treatments and products. Dentists do not teach patients about nutrition. As hygienist, we have a very limited time to do many tasks. I would try to talk to my patients about limiting carbohydrates. I found people do not really understand what products are carbohydrates. Because dentistry has become more o a dentist's being money hungry instead of providing a service for the people I have left the field. I would love to continue to work in dentistry if I could find a good "holistic" type of dentist like Dr. Stock. Dr. Berry, thank you for this video. I think people need to know the truth because they do not get the truth when they go to the dental office in most cases.

Thank you for having me on, Dr. Berry! It was an honor and a fun chat - excited for Round 2 on breathing and malocclusion :)

The most confusing thing about cavities is their diagnosis. Since my long time dentist retired, I've gone to different dentists and was originally told I had 8 cavities. Procrastinated for 6 months and the next dentist said 6. Decided to get another opinion about 3 months later and was told 3. Things like this tend to make one somewhat suspicious about the whole industry.
  • I never thought I’d see a doctor and a dentist agreeing on the dangers of fluoride and mercury. Glad to see people waking up. You have no idea how hard some of us have fought to get these truths out (awake since 1998 here).

I was diagnosed with periodontal disease in 2005. My then dentist wanted a lot of money to fix the situation, and it wasn't a real fix for my mouth, it was a fix for his boat payments. I didn't do it. I found myself without a job for 10 years and couldn't see a dentist, and meanwhile found the keto diet and got off all grains, sugars and seed oils for 6 years, and found a red light mouth guard and nanohydroxyapatite toothpaste from Japan. Got a job, finally, and good dental insurance, went back for a 10-year cleaning, and the diagnosis? My teeth were fine. No periodontal disease. We'll see you again in a year (and not six months, or three).

I've had bleeding sensitive gums and loose sensitive teeth for over 60 years, and frequent cavities even though I brushed often. My first dental cleaning 1 year after I began Keto, no cavities, next to no bleeding during the cleaning and no tooth or gum sensitivity. Nearly 6 years since I began Keto, amazing to have no bleeding or loose teeth, and no cavities in this time.

As a dental hygienist I love this interview so much. This was arguably more valuable to me than my hygiene education. I'm tired of telling people who have dental disease that they need to brush better, floss more, get a special rinse, etc. They often tell me they are doing all those things and more. Diet is number 1! I'm tired of pushing fluoride. I flat out tell parents not to do the tablets. I concede on topical fluoride, but I really shouldn't. I feel pushed by the office. We had nutrition in school, but it focused on nutrition in the general sense, and it was the low-fat, high carb variation. This interview has given me the boldness to really change what I do!

I stopped going to a dentist 7 years ago when it became obvious to me he was pushing for things I didn’t want or ask for that were all cosmetic procedures and 6 month cleanings. I took dental care into my own hands, my teeth are whiter today, my gums are pink, no tartar buildup behind them either. How? Easy.. I don’t consume sugar, no carbs. I brush once a day with a salt/baking soda solution. I floss daily. Twice a week I brush my teeth with activated carbon powder that removes all stains. I have never felt better… the old adage I grew up hearing was true… brushing and flossing daily will keep the dentist away. I use a wooden toothpick to remove calculus build up and it works just fine.

It seems to me that our dental insurance system has become a slush fund for dentist that use it to suck the coverage costs out of it through unnecessary procedures. Greed has killed their profession.

In 2019 I had Laser surgery due to periodontal issues. Last month my gum started bleeding. The dentist said I had to go to the office every three months for clean up and I was doing my cleaning only every six months. Now he said I had to repeat the laser surgery and pay another $7500. I started doing my research. I started cleaning my teeth with baking soda, salt and hydrogen peroxide and flossing. Then I was also doing coconut oil pulling for 15 minutes then rinse my mouth with salt and warm water. My teeth are no longer bleeding, my teeth are white, no tartar, and my gums look so healthy.

I’ve gone to dentists on a regular basis all of my life. (65 years old). Have had cavities as a child and throughout adulthood on occasion with root canals. Have been living a keto lifestyle for the last 19 months. At the last cleaning, the hygienist said, “I wish people took as good care of their teeth as you. You have the cleanest teeth I’ve seen in a long time.” That’s a low carb diet! Thanks Dr Berry. Great info today!
  • @sunstarsmoon
My gums stopped bleeding easily within weeks of me eating meat again. I was vegetarian for 30 years and had awful dental health. I'm over 2 years keto vore and doing great now!
  • @flowgood123
I had 2 root canals done when I was 15 years old, and it literally ruined my life, I had them removed at age 59, and I finally feel normal for the first time since then. I had them removed because I thought that was the cause of my heart trouble, and thank God I did.
  • @rams21forlife
As a dentist i am tired of telling adults they should be limiting soda, candy, sweets. I could care less if they use fluoride or not. If you don’t know that as an adult u got other issues. No amount of brushing and flossing can fix a bad diet. And me cleaning your teeth two days out of the year wont change much
  • @chrisminifie219
Interesting anecdote about calculus. Last time I went to the dentist for 6 monthly checkup, she removed a lot of calculus. She asked me what Ii was eating. I told her about my ketovore diet. She said two things. Firstly: “That explains the calculus. So we don’t have to worry about that. Your dental health is excellent. We’ll just clean it off every 6 months.” Secondly she said “That’s a good diet. Keep doing it” I must admit I was surprised, as I assumed most health professionals would tell me my diet is wrong
  • Overconsumption of carbs and sugars is the culprit. Ever since doing I.F. plus low carb/low sugar Ketovore, my dentist and hygienist complement my teeth during every checkup. Thanks Dr Berry!
  • I had gingivitis so bad and my gums had receded to needing a tissues graft When I got diagnosed with bad arthritis. I decided to go carnivore. My gums and gingivitis is cured! No gingivitis and the gums all grew back!!! I’m shocked❣️
  • I have adhd, and suffer from health issues to boot. I neglected a lot of my dental health my whole life. I had too many root canals and extractions. Regrettably I allowed dentists to drill my teeth to bits. I was told that I was going to need reconstructive surgery to graft my gums eventually because they were so diseased. I had gum line cavities. I began bridging my nutritional gaps by supplementing. No one told me that having my gallbladder out would make ms deficient in fat soluble vitamins. I also stopped used antibiotic mouthwash and trying to restore my oral micro biome. I started using fluoride free hydroxyapetite toothpaste too. My gums stopped bleeding, the redness and swelling left. Then in just a few weeks I realized that my cavities were actually remineralizing. It was incredible. These weren’t small holes either. I wish I could afford a functional dentist here. I’m so afraid to have any more damage done. I forgot to add that I also implemented xylitol products.

I have had several years of dental issues. Infections…over and over. I’m in the middle of implant treatment and miserable. In temporaries waiting for permanents. Wish I hadn’t let them talk me into this. Full mouth. IMO dentists don’t know anything about oral health, diet, or how to resolve infections! Started carnivore and hoping that helps. I’ve been sick for so long, I really need relief. I’ll be patient. Thank you for sharing this!
  • @jimrutherford2773
Have this dentist back. One of the best interviewees I've seen on your show Dr. Berry.
