Not even gonna lie, Eddie looking like shit the entire movie is one of my absolute favourite choices ever. You expect the typical “shirtless badass” scene the whole time but it’s just a sweaty Tom Hardy looking like he’s coming out of a three day coke binge.

"He steals her documents without her consent" ... Yes, that's how stealing works.
  • I honestly wasn’t bothered by Venom changing his mind about earth so fast because he’s just an insanely impulsive creature. I feel like it’s believable that he’d realize that he can have fun running around here with Eddie and then just decide to blow up the other symbiotes because they were all dicks anyway

4:20 What gets me is that Eddie's boss acknowledges that Eddie the kind is the kind of journalist that likes to investigate and expose bad people, then puts on a surprised Pikachu face when he does exactly that. Let's be real, Eddie was not the only fool in that situation.

Eddie being a absolute loser with nothing going for himself makes it all the funnier knowing his future arch nemesis is a high schooler.
  • @somerandolad
Eddie had way more chemistry with Venom, than he did with what's-her-face.

the fact that the little girl never actually got to ask her question immediately stood out to me. It felt like an old Simpsons joke

"...it's just a wimpy little tech nerd duking it out with a huge bumbling drunk British man" had me instantly sold on watching this movie.
  • @SixCubitMan
I love this movie because the hack writers clearly wanted the protagonist to be a cool and utter badass, but the Tom Hardy took one look at the character and decided he would be violently ill, in constant pain, and kind of a dipshit who's always confused by the absurd situation. it's like he's fighting the script with a more compelling idea

Of course Venom would find San Francisco beautiful. He's not paying rent.

Venom captures the “Holy shit this is insane what the fuck is going on” essence of the 90s’ Venom comic books (most notably Venom: Lethal Protector) perfectly

I quite like Venom, UNIRONICALLY Venom looks much better in this version than in Spider-Man 3, Riot and Carlton Drake are somewhat interesting villains, and I wouldn’t expect Eddie to look like some shirtless badass when he’s bonded with an alien that’s actively KILLING HIM, so I like the fact that he looks sick Also, his character is depressed, his fiancé left him, he lost the one job he’d ever wanted and he’s forced to live in a small and shitty apartment It’s fun

"Eddie's life does not get better in this movie. He does not get any happier, and he doesn't grow as a character." Yeah but he's got an alien boyfriend so who's really the winner here, huh?
  • @thehumanity0
"Venom takes over his ex's body and creates a fetish that I didn't even know I had". What are the chances this isn't a joke & Marcus now has a black goo monster fetish?
  • Tom Hardy is an old personal friend of mine. He used to train at the local gym with my late brother (who was a professional MMA and cage fighter and fought with Katie ("Jordan") Price's ex husband Alex Reid when he was building himself up for his role in 'Bronson'. Tom's success story is like something out of 'revenge of the nerds'. I remember him being a very quiet and retiring guy who loved comics and sci fi and vintage horror films. It's strange seeing your friends on the telly on reality TV shows but that is ramped up 500% when you see them in blockbuster movies jumping out of exploding buildings and have action figures made out of them. It's all good though. we are so proud of Tom and all he has achieved.
  • I think my favourite thing in this film is the relationship between Eddie, Dan and Anne because of the way they handled it. It’s nice to see them get along and support each other despite a broken off relationship.
  • @skylaralley2465
Is Venom a bad movie? Yes Will I still watch it bc Tom Hardy’s love for this character is so infectious? Absolutely
  • @Snavels
I kinda liked Eddie being a complete wreck the whole film.
  • My favorite part is the fact that they mispronounced "simbiote" during filming, got brutally made fun of after the trailers dropped, and just very obviously overdubbed the final cut of the movie to correct it without reshooting any of the scenes. For anyone who doesn't know, rewatch the trailers. They pronounce it "sim-bye-oat" and it's incredible.

They could have fixed some things by having Venom be the symbiote that escaped and made his way back to San Francisco by body hopping instead of Riot. You could then have the white spider logo present, the implication being that Venom was in New York for a while on his way. It also explains the trust/bond between Riot and Drake, they've been in close contact daily at the lab. That way, Venom actively wanting to save the day makes sense, he's had a lot of interaction with a huge amount of different people whereas Riot has only interacted with a guy who was routinely killing homeless people without any remorse.
