He didn't pull the trigger, but was sentenced to 51 years | Fault Lines

Publicado 2022-06-08
Almost every country in the world treats juveniles who commit murder differently to the United States.

This is particularly true in Tennessee, where the state sentences juvenile offenders to a quasi-life sentence of 51 years.

Fault Lines investigates the case of Almeer Nance, convicted of felony murder for an armed robbery he took part in as a 16-year-old in 1996. He received a sentence of 51 years and has no meaningful opportunity to have a second chance in life to reconnect with his family.

A 16 year old should not get 51 years in prison also a 16 year old should not walk into people's businesses armed with a gun.

“Some people are born bad” Show me a baby that is inherently bad or even a 5 year old. Ridiculous.

It doesn't matter. He shouldn't have been an accomplice. But if the Amanda's out he should be out too
  • Very well put together, and should be utilized to show the corruptness within the Police department. Officer's should be held to a higher standard when they break any rule of Law. I pray this Brother and all the youth that fall under this minimum sentencing of 51yrs.find relief through this story.

If this hurts me so much. A total stranger, can you imagine what it is doing to the family and Almeer.😭😭😢

The physical presence of an accomplice can actually immobilise a victim, making him unable to act or even escape. Don't ever write that off.

If he was involved he should do time. At least he’s alive and breathing. The dead man no longer exists. And his family can never speak to him again.
  • I pray for his Families Strength , I honestly know how it feels we are struggling with the Same.

All the police should be prosecuted and pay. I'm sure this is one of many cases with similar circumstances

A 16 year old isn’t ruined yet. They have a chance to be reformed. The state should be ashamed for this.

"Almost every country in the world treats juveniles who commit murder differently to the United States." Just letting everyone know Tennessee is in the United States. Just to be clear...

Ok? He helped commit murder and paid the price, what’s wrong with this?
