Finland, along with Sweden, has officially been accepted into the NATO alliance.

The small nordic country of just 5.5 million people, which shares an 800-mile border with Russia has reversed decades of neutrality to join the ranks of NATO in a massive blow to Vladimir Putin.

So, what will Finland bring to the alliance?

In this documentary the Sun's Max Molyneux travels to Finland to meet members of their 900,000 strong reservist army, attend a live-fire military exercise with young Finnish conscripts and tour one of the countries largest public nuclear bomb shelters.

Find out Finland has spent decades preparing their country for war and how this readiness will strengthen NATO's northern flank.

  • As an American, I would jump on a plane and head to Finland to offer my support in any way possible. My greatest respect to the Finns. They are in a class of their own.
  • @PzMcQunn
My father used to say "Sure it costs money to run a military, but it costs way more to live under the reign of Russia"
  • I'm proud to be part Finn. 🇫🇮 I served in the US Air Force. I'd be happy to go to Finland if war breaks out there. Loved ones know this. I informed them of my decision. Lots of support from over the pond.
  • As an American, this is what I think of when our founders said “a well regulated militia.”
  • Intelligent planning and willing conscripts. That’s the way to go. Finns lead the way. Respect guys. From Scotland.
  • As a Swede, i feel eternally grateful to have such kind and competent neighbours in Finland. In the unlikely case that Russia would decide to escalate and spread their imperialistic war of terror to the real estate of Finland, i would not think twice about joining in the defence of their country. 🇫🇮🇸🇪
  • As a FInnish American citicen im impressed the support and kind reactions around the word! im 62 now, i was 16 when i finished my service in Finnish army i wolunteered to do my duty! I decided to raice my family here in the USA! to been able to live 31 years in both wonderful counries is a priviledge, but i never forgot sisu perkele etc. Happy Finn.

My respect for Finland grows with each video I see. A disciplined, clear-minded people with a correspondingly well-prepared military. What an asset to NATO they are and what an example to other western countries, including the US, my own home. We can learn much from them today.
  • I've been to Finland and was really impressed with the people. They are humble, polite, hospitable, and have a dry, but great, sense of humor. Out of 33 countries visited, they are in my top five.
  • My grandparents on my mother's side were Finns. I grew up with many Finns in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I am part Finn and very proud to have Finnish heritage! Finns are very strong people, something they refer to as Sisu. Sisu is strength of will, determination, perseverance, and acting rationally in the face of adversity. Sisu is not momentary courage, but the ability to sustain that courage. Great people. I am glad they will be joining NATO. Love and respect from an American of Finnish heritage. Stay safe.
  • "Better to be a Samurai in the garden than a Gardner in the War"! Very well said, my friend.
  • Greetings from Italy. We love you Finland and Sweden. We are with you and all Europe.

Nobody wants war here, but we are always prepared for the worst. Finland is truly a home worth fighting for. It will always be...

"If you need to shoot, shoot, if you can talk, talk." What an excellent way of putting the reason for receiving some sort of combat/defense training.
  • Welcom my finnish brothers. United we stand ! Hieno juttu!
  • Wow. Blown away that Finland will have so many F35s for such a small population. These people are peaceful but will not tolerate the evil of Putin. Australia is also behind you, Finland!
  • The British have been training with the FDF for years now and the respect between the two militaries is immense. I whole heartedly welcome the proud nation of Finland into the NATO family, along with Sweden, both having far more in common with us in our shared values of life than those of the dictatorship of lies behind the iron curtain.

As a Swede, who is half finnish on my dads side, view Finn’s as very disciplined, very serious and very keen on safety, Swedes are the same to a degree but a little less serious. If I could pick a nationality to have by my side in war time it would be a Finn! They are great folks!
  • @Quickrex
My parents had some finish friends and remember the women told how her father a gentle school teacher with maybe a little to thick eyeglasses to be a warrior but none the less fought as a lion in some of the first days of the war and died protecting his family and country. It was a brutal war and a lot of good fins 🇫🇮 died before their time. We Nordic Scandinavians are peaceful people but don’t forget ones we were warriors. I will come and fight with you my beloved 🇩🇰 🇸🇪 🇳🇴 🇫🇮 brothers and sisters.
  • Kunnioitan teitä valtavasti suomalaisia veljiäni, Saksasta 🇩🇪❤️ Olen erittäin pahoillani huonosta suomenkielestäni 😅
