This is a very classical workflow, which is super neat. That two value thumbnail is sometimes called a notan btw.

A month ago I was like "Screw lineart" and just started sketching silhouettes with a paint brush tool. I even added shadows, details and rendering. I basically finished the entire thing without a single line drawn, no sketch no nothing. Everything was drawn on top of each other. So yeah anyways I invented digital painting in the literal sense.

Nice work! This concept definitely helps you see what's really there (shapes and shadows) as opposed to what you think should be there. :) 1:16 caught me off guard lol

That's a great way to practice shapes and shadows. I heavily depend on my sketch so it's a great way to get out of my comfort zone. Your videos always give me a boost of motivation to draw when I am not feeling like drawing.
