There’s a real cough buzz around VW’s EV comeback kid. We’re the first to drive a production-ready version, so we thought why not stage our very own BugJam and show it to people who really know their vans. Time to introduce it to the ancestors and ask the real camper fans what they think...

An electric car review that was not about 0-100 km/h in a straight line. Excellent!!
  • @mcrkon
Can’t wait to see them everywhere - airport shuttles, taxis, school and church vans, national park service vehicles, etc. Big respect to VW for taking the leap!
  • Hope this is the beginning of the modern equivalent of coachbuilding; customising your car spec over a common electric platform.
  • I'm glad that they brought it real van owners for their opinion. The original van is basically sacred at this point. It's great to have those who are faithful to that share their views.
  • @iamshanif
This is not about the power and sportyness, it's about the feeling of driving an old style van in a modern makeover... And it's 👍
  • @clipsedrag13
it's almost perfect. the size shape and modern without being cluttered
  • @cookinma
Almost everything he says about the way it drives is exactly how I feel driving my ID.4 around! 🥰
  • Haven't seen a regular family vehicle that has got so much character as this bus in a very long time. Absolutely love the look of it! Definitely a head-turner on the road.
  • @examinerian
Love it. I know folk with T2s and up, and this gives me the same happy vibe as those, with the added knowledge that it won't overheat struggling up hills... 😁
  • Great looking vehicle. The longer wheelbase version will do well in the states I imagine
  • @Vyzard
Appreciate the input from the professional van converters, one basically shrugged the other said maybe. Reminds me of the time old Top Gear tried making a hybrid van with a diesel generator at the back (might be wrong), only to 'unalive' the Stig again from carbon monoxide poisoning
  • Still haven’t seen the LWB version that we’re getting. This SWB wouldn’t cut it here so much. Most folks want a little bigger for sports and weekend gear. I’d consider one for sure!

I learned to drive a stick shift in a 20-year-old VW Vanagon in the 90s. That van/bus firm factor brings back sweet memories... It is now time to march into the electric age and create another icon. P.S. I trust the front crumble zone has improved in the design since... always felt a little nervous sitting right on top of the front wheels in those days. I'm gonna call mine the ID.Bus in honour of the Minibus.
  • @JeffSkymaster
Love the Bus but I'm pretty sure that price tag will be beyond affordable for most .
  • I also wished it looked like the concept car with a flatter front and a rail system to move around the seats and the console (with a fold out table) and ability to sleep in it right away without doing conversions.
  • @mattwyeth3156
I think that it needs a third row of seats as an option for larger families
  • I like the design a lot but i feel like the connecting LEDs between the headlights is a tad much. If they removed that, i feel like it would make the front look cleaner. I also wouldve preferred that they kept circular headlights but made them modern with LED halos, but thats just me. Either way, i'd buy one!
  • @West4ea
Love it. Only downsides I see is it has the horrid version screen for everything including heating. And if only that rear bench was 3 individual seats that move back and forwards can recline and even removed. Be interesting to see future versions
  • @AntonMartinz
Very very beautiful! Excellent design and comfort, as it seems for this test drive! ❤
  • @blaster915
Definitely feels like a totally different show this new top gear. Antique roadshow meets 5th gear.
