Interesting mix layering! I'm a chronic underwaterer and could not keep an alocasia happy until I started using self-watering pots. I use PON at the bottom, then a well draining but not too chunky potting mix to which I add water-retaining granules. It's been about a year now and they're doing well! Your Frydek is stunning!

I have a poly almost 2 years has not lost one leaf. I use chunky soil moss on top. I water when top inch dry. I never let it dry out. Have a stingray 9 months given 6 new leaves. Lost none but cut off those oldest 4 because I didn’t like the leaves and will cut off 3 more when more leaves fill in. Same watering. Just got a silver dragon and want a Jacklyn and green dragon. Someday variegated Alocasia I will get
