They typically come quicker. Bad feather is now gone after 7 years in the area. His two kids have taken over and took longer to trust me. After almost two years, I can get within 10 feet.
  • We love crows we feed a family of over 30 crows they say hello, they recognize us and when my husband is on his motorcycle they fly with him awesome birds!!!! They love dog food more than bread we buy bulk of dog food at Costco. Animals are GIFTS!

so sweet , your whistle sounds exactly as if you are even speaking the words " breakfast " to Bad Feather and friends this is just so nice . ❀️

A murder is nearby..... Also I really love how crows call out to other crows when there's a meal nearby. They have an interesting social system

We have been feeding a crow family for years. We do put out bread along with bird seed, sunflower seed, thistle and cracked corn. We try to accommodate the tastes of all guests: finches, scrub jays, doves, rabbits, towhees, Mallard ducks along with the crows. Of course there is a Cooper's hawk who enjoys the plentiful supply of potential dinner items ... We enjoy our neighbors every day. Thanks for sharing your morning ritual.

We feed a female Crow and her daughter (from last year's brood of 3 chicks) with our food scraps every day. She loves cooked meat scraps and bones to pick clean. It's a better way of reducing food waste going into the rubbish bin. In return she keeps the gulls, foxes and cats out of the back garden by attacking them and chasing them away. She is becoming more tame as the weeks go by and even calls down "hello" in Crow talk when flying over. We started feeding her last year when we saw that she was struggling to find food for her 3 youngsters. WE adopted a visually impaired (detached retinas following an impact with a car) adult Crow in 2005 and had him as a family member for just over 10 years, so are quite in tune with Crows because of this.

The crows like dogfood more than bread. I noticed the ones that live by me have a look out on top of the adjacent house and if that one spots something and yells they all take off. I enjoy them.

I've been feeding crows and squirrels for a long time. They recognize me when I come out, and squawk to alert other crows of my presence. 🐦

I have a plastic whistle for my crows and they come at once cause it is so loud. They love cracked walnuts. I crack them so they can open them but also hide them and keep them if they like for longer periods.
  • Beautiful home, and surroundings! These are my favorite birds! I’m currently staying in Dillon Colorado in a condo, and I’m leaving gifts of food for the crows on the balcony. They are so dang smart, and fun to watch.

I've got a family of four English crows. I thought I was training them as they came straight away when I called them but now I feel that they have trained me. They are delightful to watch and how they interact with the two young ones is a real treat. I do feel sorry for 'Mama' sometimes. The more you learn about their behaviour the more interesting it becomes. Shelled nuts and sliced hot dogs are favourite foods. We have a bird bath and that gets used for washing and soaking food - I'd miss them if they went.
  • I bought a primos crow horn from amazon and every morning when I get off of work I call my crow friend and wait a few mins and he comes for chow. It's cool to see I'm not the only one doing the same thing. Ppl at my work thought I was nuts until they seen it for their own eyes. Just last week my crow friend brought me a shiny piece of cellophane from a cigarette pack lol and also the rest of the crows hahaha. He was more skittish with them around but maybe I'll gain a little bit if their trust in time too. Great birds! I love when they are around!
  • My crow family started in my pine tree this spring. I heard the baby flapping his wings getting ready to fly which alerted me to their presence. I immediately started putting food out for them which they gladly accepted and since then the three of them come around twice daily or so to get their fill of peanuts, walnuts, chicken, turkey, cheese, scrambled eggs, hot dogs. I also keep a 2'x2'x6"tub of clean water for them to drink, bathe, and dunk their food in. They've got it made! I call them the Crowski family...Mr. and Mrs. Crowski and baby Mogli. And Grandpa Crowski comes around sometimes and shares with Mogli too. I love my Crowskis!

  • I'm in Liberty Missouri, KC. I do the same as you, only they come & let me know their outside. I can also call them by "Crow call" & they'll come. I just love the CROWS! My brother named me WOMAN WHO STANDS WITH CROWS!
  • @Teewriter
We get trimmings from the butcher. We’re doing a service. The have to pay to get it hauled away and Floyd (our wild crow) loves it.
  • Beautiful birds. Very clever. I saved fledgling from the cat and since then have them for breakfast too.πŸ˜€
