Montana is known as the "Treasure State", a nickname that it fully lives up to. People have been coming to Montana for decades to hunt for gold, gemstones, and so much more. In this video, I kayak down the Yellowstone river in search of some of the most sought after treasures in Montana - Yellowstone River Agates.

Thanks so much for watching! Let me know what was your favorite find from the trip. Hope you had a great weekend.
  • Billings area was my childhood home. Got agate fever from an uncle who hunted along the Yellowstone many yrs ago. (I'm sure he left behind some beautiful agates for you to find!) Most of my childhood rock hunting was along the Boulder River, but don't remember finding a single agate. I live far from beautiful Montana now, but enjoy your videos and the names of familiar places. Thank you for taking us along on your agate hunts.
  • @KatyDidRocks
Looks like another beautiful day on the river! Sometimes our eyes just aren’t seeing what is there. Then there are time we can’t even take a step without finding something else.
  • Alex - Congratulations on your Board Certification! Always look forward to your videos. Have a great week.
  • @kimbain4368
Congrats on getting your certification! You had some really nice finds today and what a lovely outing it was. Thanks for sharing your time with us. I totally live vicariously through you, Theo, Kate, and the others, since I'm stuck at home. So thanks for keeping me more or less sane.

  • Wow, congratulations on your accomplishments! Spending time on your river full of treasures after all your hard work sounds like perfection. I was really taken by the colors and patterns in the banded chert. The agatized petrified wood comes in at a close second. Thank you for sharing your beautiful day.
  • Wow, just stumbled across your website. I’m watching you walk down the river and I can here the excitement in your voice. I know exactly how you feel. I get just as excited when I’m hounding which is just about every time I’m outside. I’m in northern Ohio now, pretty crappy for rock hounding unless you like clay and shale but I lived in Nor Cal for a long time and you can just about bend over and pick up semi-precious rocks anywhere you go. It was like a dream. I have literally 100’s of lbs of gorgeous specimens. Got a couple of tumblers and I really, really enjoy rock hounding. I can tell you do too. You’re a pro, I’m just a rookie. Glad I found ya.
  • @jr7006
Gratz on graduating, that's awesome!!! I am a 3rd generation hunter of agate and fossilized wood, there are some places in the desert of southern WY that would blow your mind! So I can relate to and enjoy your videos, just makes me want to get out there even more now, lol.
  • Yellow jasper also got me hooked. It's a really special (to me) piece I plan to share on my next video. Congrats on your recent accomplishments!
  • Love the scenery, views of the river and the landscape of rocks, so cool! I would forget to eat out there! Thanks for sharing this awesome journey. What beautiful finds!
