Love will abide, take things in stride
Sounds like good advice but there's no one at my side
And time washes clean love's wounds unseen
That's what someone told me but I don't know what it means.

Cause I've done everything I know to try and make you mine
And I think I'm gonna love you for a long long time

Caught in my fears
Blinking back the tears
I can't say you hurt me when you never let me near
And I never drew one response from you
All the while you fell all over girls you never knew
Cause I've done everything I know to try and make you mine
And I think it's gonna hurt me for a long long time

Wait for the day
You'll go away
Knowing that you warned me of the price I'd have to pay
And life's full of flaws
Who knows the cause?
Living in the memory of a love that never was
Cause I've done everything I know to try and change your mind
and I think I'm gonna miss you for a long long time
Cause I've done everything I know to try and make you mine
And I think I'm gonna love you for a long long time.

“I used to hate the world and I was happy when everyone died. But I was wrong. Because there was one person worth saving. That's what I did: I saved him. And I protected him. That's why men like you and me are here: We have a job to do. And God help any motherfuckers who stand in our way.”

I know Linda is sick, but I hope she is well enough to appreciate all of the love that is pouring her way recently. ❤❤

I am so pleased that The Last of Us series episode 3 used this song in it. It is such a beautiful simple song but with so much heart and meaning and now hopefully younger generations will get to experience the emotion behind the lyrics especially after watching this well done episode. Thank you Linda Ronstadt and writer Gary White for giving us such a memorable song 🙏
  • Going to high school in Tucson in 1962 Linda hung in the same crowd. She used to sing at outdoor malls on Friday night's. I went in the army after graduation. Linda told me to stay safe and gave me a hug. I will never forget that. When I got out 2 years later Linda had moved to California with her band The Stone Poneys who also performed with another group in the late 60s who thanks to Linda became the Eagles in 1971. Linda was raised right and in spite of the hippie generation then she never got caught up in the challenges of those times. I will never forget her and the beautiful voice made in heaven.

Married in 1974 - divorced in 1980 - still love her in 2024 after 50 years

Back then auto-tune was in the singer's throat. She had a truly rare and special voice AND dynamic self-belief. Watch a documentary about her for deeper appreciation. Rare talent indeed.

It’s crazy how a tv show, or movie can breathe new life into an old song. There’s a good chance the younger generation had no idea who Linda Ronstadt was until they watched The Last of Us.

It's a YouTube comment board cliche I know, but in this case it's true: No one holds a candle to Ms. Ronstadt. Her voice is in a league of its own.
