Now and Then's eventful journey to fruition took place over five decades and is the product of conversations and collaborations between the four Beatles that go on to this day. The long mythologised John Lennon demo was first worked on in February 1995 by Paul, George and Ringo as part of The Beatles Anthology project but it remained unfinished, partly because of the impossible technological challenges involved in working with the vocal John had recorded on tape in the 1970s. For years it looked like the song could never be completed. But in 2022 there was a stroke of serendipity. A software system developed by Peter Jackson and his team, used throughout the production of the documentary series Get Back, finally opened the way for the uncoupling of John’s vocal from his piano part. As a result, the original recording could be brought to life and worked on anew with contributions from all four Beatles. This remarkable story of musical archaeology reflects The Beatles’ endless creative curiosity and shared fascination with technology. It marks the completion of the last recording that John, Paul and George and Ringo will get to make together and celebrates the legacy of the foremost and most influential band in popular music history.

honored to be alive in a generation where new Beatles music is still releasing

My grandpa is a big beetles fan, and its sad to say but he's nearing the end of his life, and I'm just glad he got to hear this before he passed
  • Never in my life did I think I could ever say "you hear the new Beatles song?"
  • @susanklein7448
My 94 year-old dad, who wouldn't buy 'Meet The Beatles' for me in 1964 when I was 9 because "they're only a passing fad" just called to say he heard on the news there's a new Beatles record and he didn't want me to miss out. The lyrics made me cry like a baby because life goes by just like that and 1964 feels like yesterday.

Such a beautiful final song, we're really lucky to be able to hear this after nearly 50 years

I'm just a 16 year old girl who loves listening to the beatles and I miss John and George even though they died before I was born;(
  • @SparkTheGenius
I love seeing all the teenage Beatles fans in the comments, excited that they get to hear a new Beatles song. I'm 51. We all get to enjoy this together!
  • @Fab4Fan1964
Paul deserves so much credit for never letting go of his dream to finish John’s song as a Beatles song and as a tribute to his dear friend. Thanks to all who contributed to this production! ❤️

Hearing John's voice so loud and crisp is the musical highlight of 2023. Pauls done a beautiful George style solo. It's a masterpiece Lennon McCartney song

My grandmother loved The Beatles. She passed away, peacefully, yesterday. They will always remind me of her.
  • @nyx6903
My father would've been about 51 when this released. This is the one Beatles song we never heard together. He died when I was 9, and hearing the Beatles will always make me remember him.
  • @JordanSeal
When he died, John Lennon was 40. Today, Paul McCartney is 81. To hear them singing together on this haunting song... I want to call this "timeless," but it's really a time-full testament to the power of music and -- ultimately -- love and friendship.

This song is currently #1 on the apple charts. Think about that. 60 years after their first #1 single, they're still topping the charts. They truly are the greatest band ever. A shame how John and George never got to see this. A beautiful and poignant final song to forever etch them into history. Long live the Beatles.

I'm 15 years old, I sure didn't think I would live to see a brand new Beatles song come out. Beautiful song.
  • @AceWerewolf
Never imagined id see young john and old paul in the same song. Technology is mind blowing
  • @me-zb7qm
Hearing old Paul singing with young John is insane. George delivers as always, even from beyond the grave. Ringo's still got it. How I love this band.

I first heard The Beatles in 1962, when I was 9; and now I have heard their very final work together, 61 years later and now I’m 71. 53 years after their break up, 43 years after their lead singer died and 22 years after their lead guitarist died, a song written 45 years ago is completed and aired for the first time. Truly the Fab Four!
  • @saiyajedi
This song brings a tear to my eye. My mother was a lifelong fan, who saw the Beatles live at Shea Stadium at the age of 11. She passed away from cancer last year. What I wouldn’t give to be able to share this with her….
  • @tasoskont.6716
He says "One, Two.." and then whispers three and four because there's only two Beatles members left!
