In this episode of Head to Head, Mehdi Hasan challenges prominent Israeli historian Benny Morris on his support for Israel’s war on Gaza, the history around the founding of Israel and the Nakba.

Morris’ book ‘The Birth of the Palestinian Refugee Problem, 1947-1949’ dismantled many of the myths behind the displacement of more than 700,000 Palestinians during that period. His critics, however, say he now justifies many of those crimes.

Hasan and Morris are joined by a panel of three experts:

Diana Buttu – a Palestinian lawyer and former advisor for the PLO
Daniel Levy – a former Israeli peace negotiator and current President of the US/ Middle East Project
Emmanuel Navon – an International Relations lecturer at Tel Aviv University

This was filmed before the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran on 31 July.

If Emmanuel Navon is a lecturer at the Tel Aviv University, it’s no wonder that so many Israelis have such a skewed perspective!

Majority of Israelis live in a bubble that is seperate from reality. This historian is clearly living in that bubble.

15:11 The zionists arrived on the scene, and said "we're willing to share your land", the Palestinians said "no", and this justifies ethnic cleansing? Then can someone share someone else's house in the same way? I don't understand this logic.
  • Interviewing people like Benny Morris needs people with good heart, otherwise some will end up beating him.

Calling dead children and babies “collateral damage” is just nasty work. Another way they dehumanize the people of Palestine

Benny admitted that Hamas is not existential threat to Israel because it's tiny organization. Why does then Netanyahu along with his cabinet call Hamas existential threat to Israel?

The man said unfortunately "more Sephardics born rather than Ashkenazi" casually and nobody bats an eye either.

“Ten Myths About Israel” book by the Israeli historian Ilan Pappe The “ten myths”—repeated endlessly in the media, enforced by the military, and accepted without question by the world’s governments—reinforce the regional status quo and include: • Palestine was an empty land at the time of the Balfour Declaration. • The Jews were a people without a land. • There is no difference between Zionism and Judaism. • Zionism is not a colonial project of occupation. • The Palestinians left their Homeland voluntarily in 1948. • The June 1967 War was a war of ‘No Choice’. • Israel is the only Democracy in the Middle East. • The Oslo Mythologies • The Gaza Mythologies • The Two-State Solution

I just watched the Interview with Benny Morris. I am disgusted. How any man can sit there and say there is no hunger/ no death by hunger in Gaza is mindblowing! What for a dispiccable human being. I am neither Muslim nor Jew, but I have eyes, ears and a brain. I watch and listen to many accredited sources and am able to think. To say in such a way that there is NO hunger and NO genozide in Gaza is in my eyes purely sneering at and ridiculing terrible facts the world can see! I must say that Mr. Netanjahu has learnt well from WW2 - unfortunately from the wrong side!!

Let them speak, they expose themselves shamelessly.

People are tired of lying of this killer regime

Benny Morris comes as a person who knows very little about the history and has no problem contradicting himself. He is trying to rewrite history and fails miserably
  • @da5731.
    This is not a conversation.
  • Having fought as an infantryman in the Vietnam War, I know that you don’t conduct insurgencies by dropping 2,000-pound bombs and white phosphorus munitions on masses of civilians. If that is your battlefield doctrine, then it is obvious that your intent is genocidal. When my unit made contact inside villages, we could not call in artillery or air strikes and had to rely on helicopter gunships for precision targeting to avoid civilian deaths. My unit had to do the job the hard way by taking casualties while searching in the hooches, trenches, tunnels, and bunkers to get each enemy combatant with as few collateral deaths as possible. But the IDF’s target is the people.

What is the use of these conversations where one side is completely in denial, mentally insane and sick.
