To start, for the 2HAL, 2BIL, 5 Bel, the sound of the motors were quite different being EE275 and EE225 respectively, the epb range are EE250 which this sound profile file is for. I didn't hear the brakes either as EPS have a different sound to the fast acting 2 pipe air brake distinctive hiss on the older units. The old units do not have bell communication or AWS warning bell/horn. Also the compressor is too fast as it is 750volts DC wereas these units mainly operated at 660 vDC. However the warning horns are perfect!! If ever they bring out a sound profile for the metrovick 'Sarah Siddons' this will be more appropiate for the older units.

The one I rode in was a British Railways Southern Region green. This type of train makes quite a lot more electric whine than many more modern units.

I remember traveling from Winchmore Hill to Kingston-Upon Thames using one of those!!

I certainly don’t miss the 4-VEPs having travelled on them for 25 years. The 377s are a massive upgrade. I don’t think the sound is too bad, but the horn’s a bit loud. The compressor doesn’t seem to have the correct resonance, but if I close my eyes, I can almost feel the drafts and the crush of the 3+2 seating.

The ones I used were Southern Region green. I used this type of train when I was a boy to go and visit my grandparents.

Great video Jenny - I have a number of SR multiple units, and although it might not be 100% perfect, it certainly more than acceptable.

Hi Jenny, many, many thanks for the video and review of this sound profile. I've got a 310, 312 and two 304 emus to sound chip so was eager to hear the Hornby 423 soundfile, and I think this is more than acceptable. Just a quick question, are there two different horn sounds? One sounded "more Southern" than the other, so I wondered if they were different options. Fantastic, informative and a big thanks from me.

I may be wrong (probably am),but is this not the first emu sound chip,at least for slam door stock to contain the characteristic traction motor whine?

Sorry but the sound dont come across right unless you are sat inside which i'm not second with the new 21pin socket what is going to happen with the 8pin like me and i'm sure others only need some all singing and dancing card but we would still need to get are hands on 4 funtion decoder without sound and smoke or is this another new way to put the price up as it's a 21pin socket. ??
